Eco Tools Bamboo 6 Piece Brush Set

Earlier this year, I decided to branch out and try some different brushes.  I had heard that Eco Tools made some great brushes and they are an environmentally friendly brand (hence the name).  I bought the Eco Tools Bamboo 6 Piece Brush Set back in April.  Now that I’ve used the brushes for a few months and washed them a few times, I’m ready to give a review.

According to the Eco Tools website, this is what they stand for “We are inspired by beauty inside and out and in the world around us. While we always want to look our best, we feel great when we can make earth-friendly choices.  Getting gorgeous, going green, and giving back is what we are all about! EcoTools is a brand from Paris Presents Incorporated and a leader in eco-conscious beauty products, most notably known for its incredibly soft cosmetic brushes. We take pride in offering a collection of cosmetic accessories and bath products that feature innovative, earth-friendly materials.”

Eco Tools have bamboo handles (a highly replenishable resource), cruelty-free, high performance taklon fibers, and recycled aluminum is used to construct the brushes’ ferrules.  This Bamboo 6 Piece Brush Set contains 5 high-quality brushes and one case.

  • Blush Brush – This blush brush is nice and soft, though it is quite large for blush application.  I prefer to use it as a powder brush, personally.  When using it for blush, use it on lighter pigmented blushes because it picks up a lot of product, so darker blushes can go on a bit heavy handed unless you’re really careful.
  • Concealer Brush – This is a pretty large brush for it’s purpose and very stiff (but not scratchy).  I’m used to the e.l.f. concealer brush which is much smaller.  This brush works for concealer, but it isn’t my favorite and therefore doesn’t get much use.  This is my least favorite brush in this set.
  • Eye Shading Brush– This is a paddle brush that is on the large side for eyeshadow.  It is also very stiff (I want to reiterate that stiff does not equal scratchy), which makes it better for cream rather than powder shadows.  I love to use this brush on the L’Oreal Infallible eyeshadows.
  • Angled Eyeliner Brush – I actually haven’t used this as an eyeliner brush.  I like to use this small angled brush to fill in my eyebrows with powder.  It would make a good eyeliner brush, though, and the thin stiff bristles should provide a thin line.
  • Lash and Brow Groomer- This brush is pretty standard, and works great as a brow groomer.  Also, it does a good job at separating lashes.
  • Hemp Cotton case – I like to keep all of my brushes together in a caddy, but this would be great for traveling. Because it’s made from Cotton, you can throw it in the washer if it gets dirty.

The Eco Tools brushes have stood up to washing with no shedding, bleeding, or wonky hair issues.  They keep their shape well.  Though some of the brushes are a little stiffer than I would like, they are all gentle on the skin and not scratchy at all.  In general, I am very pleased with the Eco Tools Bamboo 6 Piece Brush Set.  This cost around $12 or so (I got mine at Rite-Aid) which comes out to just over $2 a brush.  That’s cheaper than e.l.f. Studio brushes.  Eco Tools brushes are environmentally friendly, work well, and are really inexpensive. What more could you ask for?  So if you are looking for affordable makeup brushes of good quality, give Eco Tools a try.

About beautyinbudgetblog

I am a self proclaimed eyeshadow junkie whose main hobbies include shopping, reading, singing, and mainlining caffeine while hanging out with my friends. I love interesting socks and have amassed quite a collection. The place that I want to visit before I die would be Greece. I like to read all seven Harry Potter books once a year the way some people read the Lord of the Rings Trilogy. (Sorry JRRT, but JKR kicks butt in my book.) I love art, and use my creativity in many different ways through painting, crafts, and makeup. I love to cook and try new things, and I especially love to eat. My favorite "date" is to go wine tasting, and do so with my husband once or twice a year. I love musical theater and think the world would be much better off if we all just watched more musicals. I am 100% a cat person and, although I think dogs can be really cute and sweet, they make me sneeze so cats will always rule. I love faeries and magic, mythology, theology, philosophy, and psychology. I regularly do logic puzzles and sometimes crosswords. I adore Bette Midler, Betty White, and Carol Burnett. I am not ashamed to admit that I watch Glee. I would like to start making some of my own clothes because I can't stop myself from buying fabric. I'm sure that there is much more, but I'm suddenly distracted by something shiny.

  1. Good review. I have a couple of the brushes myself and really like them although I do not where much makeup in the summer unless I am going somewhere. I hate NC muggy summer weather and makeup. All those in favor of winter coming early say “Ay” . AAAAAyyyyyyyyyy!!!!!!!!!!!!! haha
