Metal Icon is the second shade I have to show you from the Maybelline LE 2012 Fall Fashion Week Nail Polish Collection. Click here to see my review and swatches of Downtown Brown. The displays that carry these polishes have been popping up everywhere, so you should have no problems finding them now.
Metal icon is a gorgeous taupey silver polish. The shimmers are actually multi-tonal, which you can see best in the bottle if you enlarge the photo of my swatch done in sunlight. There is just enough lavender in the shade to keep it from being largely forgettable and bring it up to unique status. The shade looks really beautiful on the nail and is perfect for Fall.
All of these swatches are two coats, followed by Seche Vite topcoat. I found that the application was smooth, though thinner coats are recommended to avoid streaks. I have seen other reviews that claim Metal Icon needs three coats, but you can see that I achieved full opacity with only two, so I’m not sure what the issue is. I think Metal icon is a lovely shade, and totally worth getting.
