Some of you may remember that I picked up the Balm Jovi Rockstar Palette by theBalm Cosmetics when I redeemed my final round of Birchbox points. I took pictures of it before I dived in so that I could post them here on the blog. I really like the formula of the eyeshadows that theBalm puts out. I really like my Nude Tude palette, and I knew that I’d love Balm Jovi. I thought about doing a full review, but theBalm isn’t really budget beauty. Instead, I’m going to use this post for gratuitous eye candy. I’ll show you the palette and point out some neat features. So here it is.
The Balm Jovi Rockstar Palette has a tri-fold design. The bottom part folds over the two lip colors and held in place by a magnet. I think that’s awesome, because that way you don’t have to worry about the powder products getting into your lip colors and making them dirty. It’s really important that cream products and powder products are kept separate, and this is a quick and easy way to do that. The top part, which has that adorable heart-shaped mirror, folds down over the eye and cheek products. It is also magnetized.
The palette itself consists of twelve eyeshadow shades, a highlight shade, a blush, and two creamy lip/cheek colors. TheBlam’s website says that the shadows can be used wet or dry. The highlight shade, called “Solid Gold” here, is actually theBalm’s Mary-Lou Manizer. The blush, named “Don’t You Want Me?” in the Balm Jovi palette, is the same shade as the Frat Boy blush. The lip cream colors, called Milly and Vanilly (love), have a slight staining effect. I’m not really in love with either shade on it’s own, but they are really lovely when layered.
The Balm Jovi palette has a how-to guide for four separate looks on the bottom flap. Well, maybe “how-to” is stretching it a bit. Let’s say, instead, that it has the shade match ups for four looks.
And here is a closer look at the eyeshadows. The shades are broken up into three “genres”:
- Heavy Metal- Two metallic shadows and two with more shimmery finishes.
- Classical- Four completely matte shadows, which is awesome and sets this palette apart.
- Alternative- Two of these shadows are satin finish, and two are more shimmery.
I really love this palette. I was initially drawn in by how freaking adorable the packaging is, but the product is really quite good. I’ve been extremely pleased with all of the products that I have tried from theBalm. They continue to impress me. I guess this ended up turning into a mini-review after all. At any rate, I am totally on-board with the Balm Jovi Rockstar Palette.
Please do a review!!!
I don’t have much else to say since this post kind of turned into a mini review. The shadows and the face products are very good. TheBalm is right up there with Urban Decay as far as high quality shadows. This palette has a great mix of shades, and the 4 matte shadows really make it stand out in my mind. You won’t go wrong if you wanted to purchase it. It’s a very good palette.
WOW. Never saw it before, but it’s stunning! *O*
Glad that you like it. 🙂
I got this palette when it was on a one-day flash sale from Birchbox, and I love it! Everything from The Balm is so nice. Love the shades, and the packaging is so cute! I’ve put together a lot of neat looks with this palette. Thanks for sharing your thoughts on it!
I agree, theBalm has some real quality products.
