I have been experiencing some technical difficulties with the blog this week, so things have been pretty slow around here. I’m hoping that next week we can resume the regular schedule of 3-5 posts a week. Thanks for bearing with me. Today, I have some new offerings from L’Oreal, Rimmel, Almay, and Wet n Wild to show you. I don’t even remember the last time I did a “Spotted” post to show you the new products out in the drugstore. There are so many products out for summer release, and some that I am really looking forward to. I haven’t seen them yet, but on the top of that list is the new Maybelline Fit Me Stick Foundation, the new Maybelline Color Tattoo Pure Pigments, and the new Wet n Wild Pop Color eyeshadow trios. When I find them, I will definitely show them. In the meantime, here are some new items that I did run across.
L’Oreal Magic Nude Liquid Powder is L’Oreal’s new un-makeup makeup. Say what? Magic Nude Liquid Powder is a new lightweight liquid makeup that applies like a liquid foundation but sets like a mattifying powder and supposedly looks like skin. I’m not sure what to think about this foundation, but my interest is definitely piqued.
This is a large display of the Rimmel London Summer 2013 collection. There are bronzers, LE Cocktail Color nail polishes, two different mascaras, and the much anticipated Show Off Lip Laquers. The mascaras are the Rimmel Scandaleyes Curve Alert and the Rimmel Scandaleyes Show Off mascara. This display from Walgreens has been pretty picked over in regards to the Show Off Lip laquers. The picture below from Rite-Aid will give you a closer look at the shade selection.
Rimmel Show Off Lip Laquers, known as Apocalips in the UK, are liquid lipsticks with incredible color pay-off. They are extremely popular in Europe and will become part of Rimmel’s permanent line here in the States. There are 14 shades in the US line. There have been some complaints that there is no protective seal on these laquers to prevent tampering, but that’s not true at my Walgreens. All of the Rimmel Show Off Lip Laquers had a protective seal, so no worries about buying them up.
From Almay, we have four new formulas of Makeup Remover. This display is a little cleaned out, but as far as I can tell, the four formulas are : Soothing & De-Puffing, Oil-Free, Longwear & Waterproof, and Lash Care. The removers come in dual action liquid form for the Oil-Free and the Longwear & Waterproof formulas, and makeup remover pads in all four formulas.
Also from Almay are the Color+Care Liquid Lip Balms. Here is what Almay has to say: “A lifesaver for your lips! NEW Almay Color + Care Liquid Lip Balm combines the lip conditioning care of a balm with the shiny color of your favorite gloss. Shiny color drenches lips with 2X hydration as lip-loving conditioners provide 194% more moisture for softer, smoother lips over time. Non-sticky. gluten free. Hypoallergenic. Dermatologist tested.” I guess as a cross between a balm and a gloss, these will be pretty sheer, but comfortable to wear.
Next up is CoverGirl + Olay Eye Rehab CC Cream. Honestly, what the hell is up with all these BB and CC creams? Really, CC cream for the eyes? CoverGirl and Olay have teamed up for some great products in the past, but this just looks gimmicky to me. CoverGirl claims the product brightens, conceals and helps improve skin tone over time. I am more than a little skeptical, but on the bright side, that pic of Ellen with the raccoon is adorbs.
Here is a large display of the new Wet n Wild Fergie Summer 2013 Collection. The mascara, gel liners, eye primer, and shimmer palettes are all permanent. There are two new Photo Op Eyeshadow Palettes, but I am a bit hesitant to get them because I was not a fan of the previously released palettes. There are also two new shades of the Perfect Pout Lip Gloss. Nail lovers will be pleased with several new nail polishes and some mini polish trios.
Here is a close up of the new shadows and glosses. I don’t know if the WnW Fergie Summer 2013 Collection Photo Op palettes are of better quality. To see my review of the Photo Op palette in Desert Festival from the Center Stage collection click this link. They are very pretty shades, but Wet n Wild has set a pretty high standard for itself when it comes to eyeshadow and so far, the Photo Op palettes haven’t measured up.
Good new if you missed the Wet N Wild Coloricon Baked Eyeshadow Palettes from Holiday 2011. The new WnW Party on the Roof Collection gives you a second chance to snag them. Check out this post for swatches of the holiday palettes. This time, the palettes come with a mascara instead of an eyeliner in this collection. Also part of Party on the Roof, are trios with a Megalast polish, Megasheild lip color and a clear gloss. All of the sets are $4.99.
That’s it for now, but I am definitely on the look out for more new collections to start popping up in my local area. What about you? What new releases are you looking forward to? Let me know in the comments below.
