Ipsy, July 2013

July 2013 Ipsy bag

So, I was planning on doing a review of the new L’Oreal Liquid Powder foundation today, but I am pushing it off until Monday because I got my Ipsy bag yesterday!  I know that some of you love spoilers, so I wanted to get this up as soon as I could.  Look at that crazy transparent bag!  Unlike last month when my bag bounced all over the country and was really late, this month I received my bag early, even before I got a notice that it shipped.  As far as the bag itself goes, OMG you guys, Ipsy has been nailing it lately. The theme for July is “Beach Beauty”-  Get ready to be beautiful basking in the sunshine.  I really love my July bag, so let’s get into it.

POP Beauty Pouty Pop Crayon in Cora Crush

POP Beauty Pouty Pop Crayon in Cora Crush:  “POP’s Pouty Pop Crayon nourishes, treats, and adds that perfectly-plumped pop to lips. These extra-nourishing balms gently bounce onto lips creating a plumped & pillowy pout leaving them with luscious, long-lasting colour with a super-smooth texture.”  These are available in a set of six shades at popbeautycosmetics.com for $25, so one crayon is worth about $4.17.

BH Cosmetics California Collection Eyeshadow Sample

BH Cosmetics California Collection Eyeshadow Sample: “This BH Cosmetics makeup palette includes a shade from each of the California Collection palettes: Hollywood, San Francisco, and Malibu. The San Francisco palette was inspired by the classic California city and style of San Francisco, and brings together a beautiful mix of coppery golds and skyline blues reminiscent of the bridges and bay breeze. The Hollywood palette has you covered with red-carpet reds to limelight greens that are sure to take your look from ordinary to extraordinary!  Be a beach babe year-round with the Malibu makeup palette. Get that sun-kissed glow inspired by the hot summers on the Malibu coast. Select from deep blue and aqua to sandy browns and sunset oranges.”  I’m really not sure how to price this one out.  The palettes are originally priced at $17.95 at bhcosmetics.com, and contain 16 shadows and 4 cheek colors (though they are currently on sale for $11).  I’m guessing the sample is worth $1-2, let’s go with $1.50.

Sexy Hair Soy Renewal Beach Spray Conditioning & Texturizing Spray

Sexy Hair Soy Renewal Beach Spray Conditioning & Texturizing Spray: “Creates beachy undone texture that looks and feels like you’ve spent a day at the beach. Contains argan oil which helps nourish, protect and heal hair damage.”  Ipsy goes through Ulta for this one, and it costs $19.95 for 150ml at ulta.com.  The sample is 50ml, worth $6.65.

COOLA Mineral Face SPF 20 Rose Essence Tinted Moisturizer

COOLA Mineral Face SPF 20 Rose Essence Tinted Moisturizer: “Keep the sun and environment at bay with this SPF 20 broad-spectrum UVA/UVB sunscreen. This tinted, light rose scented, titanium dioxide based formula (for those who are Zinc sensitive) is made with 98% natural ingredients. Ingredients like organic acai oil, vitamins B1/2/3, vitamins C, and vitamin E delivers a powerful defense against aging. Also contains skin calming and elasticity promoting ingredients such as linseed oil, organic sunflower seed extract, organic cucumber extract and phyto-protector plankton extract. This sunscreen is hypoallergenic, paraben-free, ultra sheer, anti-aging, and water resistant for 40 minutes.”  Full size product is 50ml and costs $36 at coolasuncare.com.  Sample size is 7ml, worth $5.04.

derma e Microdermabrasion Scrub

derma e Microdermabrasion Scrub: “Improve the appearance of your skin with this gentle yet effective Microdermabrasion Scrub, only from derma e. This formula buffs away dull surface cells, diminshes the appearance of wrinkles and acne scars, and absorbs excess skin oils with an exclusive crystal blend including Dead Sea Salt and Volcanic Sand (rich in Silica). Ipsy July 2013

The grand total worth of my five products this month is $33.61, plus the really cool transparent bag.  July may not have been the highest value bag I’ve ever gotten from Ipsy, but I am really excited about everything that I got this month.  I know that some people are receiving a small sample Benefit Benetint, but since I already have a sample of it I don’t mind getting that awesome derma e scrub instead.  I am really excited about the Sexy Hair Beach Spray because I’ve been wanting to try something like that and it’s pretty new.  I’ve been eying those BH cosmetics California palettes since I saw them reviewed by XSparkage.  I’ve been wondering how they stack up to Coastal Scents, so I’m glad that I get to try a sample.  I’m not thrilled that the Pop Beauty crayon has that minty tingle thing happening, but I love the Coral color.  And it’s always good to be on the lookout for a nice facial sunscreen, so I’m happy to try the COOLA brand.  I am completely satisfied, and once again am thrilled that I dropped Birchbox in favor of Ipsy.  The subscription is $10.00 a month (plus tax if you live in certain states).  I’ve been a subscriber since October and have been very happy.  I think Ipsy is a great subscription, and definitely recommend it.  Follow this referral link to sign up for your own Ipsy bag.  Ipsy has been on such a roll the past couple months, I can’t wait to see what is in store for August.

About beautyinbudgetblog

I am a self proclaimed eyeshadow junkie whose main hobbies include shopping, reading, singing, and mainlining caffeine while hanging out with my friends. I love interesting socks and have amassed quite a collection. The place that I want to visit before I die would be Greece. I like to read all seven Harry Potter books once a year the way some people read the Lord of the Rings Trilogy. (Sorry JRRT, but JKR kicks butt in my book.) I love art, and use my creativity in many different ways through painting, crafts, and makeup. I love to cook and try new things, and I especially love to eat. My favorite "date" is to go wine tasting, and do so with my husband once or twice a year. I love musical theater and think the world would be much better off if we all just watched more musicals. I am 100% a cat person and, although I think dogs can be really cute and sweet, they make me sneeze so cats will always rule. I love faeries and magic, mythology, theology, philosophy, and psychology. I regularly do logic puzzles and sometimes crosswords. I adore Bette Midler, Betty White, and Carol Burnett. I am not ashamed to admit that I watch Glee. I would like to start making some of my own clothes because I can't stop myself from buying fabric. I'm sure that there is much more, but I'm suddenly distracted by something shiny.

  1. Ahh your bag looks so awesome! I hope I get everything you got…although I was also hoping for the Benefit Benetint. Guess I’d be happy either way! Now my bag just needs to show up… 😉
