NYX has been sending out a ton of emails introducing some of their new products for Summer, so I wanted to let you know what’s new at NYX. All of the products that I am going to tell you about today are available on NYX’s website, but haven’t popped up on Ulta’s or Target’s websites yet. My assumption is that they will be up on the web within the next couple weeks, and start trickling into stores over the next month or so. All of the following product pictures and descriptions are taken from nyxcosmetics.com, so be sure to check out NYX’s website for more details. Let’s get into the products.
First up is the NYX Wonder Stick- “Amplify your look with our all-purpose Wonder Stick that has a creamy finish that conceals, highlights and contours with ease. The Wonder Stick is available in 4 different shade combinations to fit every skin tone, including one universal shade.” NYX has this product listed under the “Highlight & Contour” section of the website, not under “Concealers” like it’s Wonder Pencil, so keep that in mind. I’m pretty sure that you could use this stick as a concealer, but that doesn’t seem to be NYX’s intention for it. NYX is listing the Wonder Stick at $12.00, which seems a little high to me.
I can’t wait to see the new Limited Edition NYX Suede Shadow Palette in stores. I really want to swatch these gorgeous shades. Here is what NYX says: “The next generation of our richest jewel-inspired shadows has arrived. Our ultimate arsenal of shadows sparkle, shimmer and illuminate with gorgeous results. We’re sure you’ll fall in love with this limited edition palette.” They also claim that the palette is travel-friendly, and that the 8 shimmery and metallic jewel tones will help you create a variety of looks from “subtle and natural” to “glamorous and dramatic”. NYX has the Suede Shadow Palette listed at $12.00 which seems like a good price, depending on the size of the shadows.
NYX is introducing two new primers, the Skin Elixir in Balance and Renew. I’ll start with the Balancing serum primer- “Boost balance with our potent skin elixir that is infused with tea tree oils. Use this product regularly for a renewed complexion. Your rejuvenated skin will feel smooth and naturally primed for makeup application.” I have never used Tea Tree Oil, but it is very popular to treat acne. This skin elixir is meant to prep the skin for makeup application and also (with the help of tea tree oil) promote a smooth, fresh, and renewed complexion. Next is the Renewing serum primer- “Our renewing skin elixir helps encourage vibrant and healthy looking skin thanks to coenzyme Q10. Apply a drop of this skin boosting potion to a clean and moisturized face before applying foundation. Use regularly and help your skin be its radiant best!” I am so excited about this serum primer because it is CoQ10, which boosts skin cell activity and collagen production for younger, smoother, more radiant looking skin. I’m using a CoQ10 moisturizer right now that I am loving, so I am excited about more products that contain CoQ10. Both primers are listed at $12.00 (I’m noticing a trend). It is a decent price, especially considering sales and whatnot.
Next are NYX Proof It Waterproof Eyeshadow and Eyebrow Primers. I’ll start with the Eyeshadow primer- “Intensify your shadows with our durable and waterproof eye shadow primer. Smooth on to lids before applying shadows and voilà! Your eye makeup will stay in place, no matter what the weather, without creasing or smudging.” It’s pretty straight forward. I know that some people swear by NYX eyeshadow bases, so this could be a great product. Be careful when you purchase these Proof It primers in the store because both the Eyeshadow Primer and the Eyebrow Primer look exactly the same. The packaging will probably cause the displays to get mixed up as people are shopping. As far as the Eyebrow Primer goes, here is what NYX has to say: “Smooth and conditioning, our clear eyebrow gel sets your brows in place all day, rain or shine. Apply over brows before shaping with powder to keep them in control. Our formulation was made specially formulated for thin, sparse brows.” NYX already has a clear brow gel, but this formula promises to be long-lasting and waterproof. And I do like that it is formulated for sparse brows specifically. Both Proof It Primers are listed at $7.00, which is great for the Eyeshadow base, but little high for the Brow gel in my opinion. But again, sales are always happening at Ulta.
One of the more interesting products that NYX has released is the Honey Dew Me Up Primer- “Inspired by honey’s golden glow, we developed a primer that neutralizes the appearance of discoloration and redness. Our innovative light reflective gold flecks create a luminous look that will help keep your skin looking radiant all day.” This is a gel primer infused with honey, gold flecks, and collagen. NYX claims that Honey is a natural antiseptic, while the gold flecks increase skin radiance, and collagen strengthens skin. I’m taking a “wait and see” approach to this one. I’m a little skeptical, especially for $17.00, but I think it’s an interesting product. I’m curious about how large the gold flecks are and wonder if this is an extremely shimmery primer. I will definitely wait to see this in real life and see some reviews on if it actually works before I think about buying.
The last brand new product I have to show you is the NYX All Over Balm- “Treat yourself to our all-purpose body balm infused with natural oils and enticing scents. Just one drop of our nourishing balm revives skin making you feel, and look, radiant. Each balm is infused with its own luxurious oil and scent. Argan oil (Blue) hydrates and fortifies skin with a lychee/vanilla butter scent. Coconut oil (Green) hydrates and revives skin with a luxurious coconut/vanilla butter scent and the honey/vanilla butter scented macadamia nut oil (Red) provides hydration and soothes skin.” These are designed to hydrate, revive, fortify, and soothe skin, lips, and cuticles. Whether or not the $6.50 price tag is a bargain will depend on how big these tins are in real life, which I did not see on the website. But, I like the idea of them and they may be worth checking out.
That’s all I have for you. You can find all of these products under the “What’s New” tab at nyxcosmetics.com. I am actually pretty excited about several of these new products from NYX. Most of them are sparking my interest. How about you? Did you see anything new from NYX that you are looking forward to trying? Let me know in the comments below.
