Hello all, I hope that you had a good Father’s day however you may have spent it. I was in my local Walgreens over the weekend and spotted several new displays. I snapped some phone pics to show you what’s new from CoverGirl, Revlon, Maybelline and L’Oreal. So let’s get started.
CoverGirl is continuing it’s focus on a younger market with the Ready Set Gorgeous line. With fun packaging and Katy Perry as the celeb pushing the line, it has certainly garnered attention. Here is the Ready Set Gorgeous Oil-Free Foundation. There is also a Powder Foundation as part of the line, but my Walgreens didn’t have any as part of the display. CoverGirl claims that the “Ready, Set Gorgeous foundation provides a flawless, natural look that lasts all day in one simple step” and is available in twelve shades. Also part of the display are the Covergirl Clean Makeup Remover Wipes.
Next is the CoverGirl Ready Set Gorgeous Concealer. CoverGirl claims: “Ready, Set Gorgeous concealer quickly conceals dark circles and imperfections.” It is also oil-free. The Ready Set Gorgeous Concealer looks to have a sheer, lightweight, more liquid formula, and comes in six shades.
I am a little confused by this next CoverGirl display. Perhaps they reformulated the three versions of Professional Mascara that they carry because they are not new products, but the display makes them look new. I haven’t seen any information about this, so if you know, tell us all in the comments blow. Also part of this display are the Dare to go Nudes Eye Enhancers eyeshadow quads in new shades.
Here is a large display from Revlon Summer 2014 featuring the new Revlon Colorstay Moisture Stains and Revlon Colorstay Gel Envy polishes. The polishes are gel-like, but aren’t gel polishes themselves. The display reads: “Our Revolutionary Diamond Top Coat delivers a protective coating for long-lasting strength and shine”, so they do not need to be cured. The nail colors contain a “base and color in one“. Also part of this display are the new Revlon Bold Lacquer Mascara, new shades of the Colorstay Eyeliners, and the new Revlon Colorstay Skinny Liquid Liners. Below is a closer look at the Revlon Colorstay Moisture Stains
The Revlon Colorstay Moisture Stains are another hybrid lip gloss and stain in one. The formula offers a “comfortable, lightweigt, non-sticky texture with color that goes on evenly and gives a soft shine“. There are twelve shades in the line, and it will be permanent, not limited edition. Revlon claims that they are moisturizing and not at all sticky.
Next up from Maybelline is the new Dream Pure BB Cream. What sets this one apart from the original Maybelline Dream Fresh BB Cream is that it is an acne-treatment BB cream that contains 2% salicylic acid. That is very exciting. Apparently it has been available in both the UK and Australia for a while now and there are a few differences with the new US version. First off, the US gets five shades, unlike the overseas versions that offer only two. Also there does not seem to be any SPF in the US product, but the UK and Australian versions contain SPF15. The overseas versions are decently rated, so I am excited to see how well the Maybelline Dream Pure BB Cream goes over in the US.
A surprising addition to L’Oreal’s lineup is the new Miss Manga Mascara. This is inspired by Japanese anime characters and their long, thick, spiky lashes. L’Oreal claims that the 360 degree “Flexor” brush provides amplified and maximized “Manga” lashes with over-sized volume. I am all for big crazy lashes, but I am surprised that L’Oreal (who is usually so classy) introduced this loud, juvenile, and gimmicky packaging. It seems out of character. However, I am sure Miss Manga will be very popular with the younger crowd.
That’s all I have for you today. I hope that you saw something that interested you. I am interested in the Maybelline Dream Pure BB Cream, though BB Creams are not my favorite thing. I’ll have a review of the CoverGirl Ready Set Gorgeous line coming soon. I may split it up and do the foundation in one review and the powder and concealer in the second review. Either way, you should be seeing them shortly. Are any of these new items from the drugstore catching your attention? Let me know in the comments below.
