It’s Ipsy time! I got my big pink envelope in the mail that can only mean that it’s time for another Ipsy bag reveal. For those who don’t know, Ipsy is a beauty subscription service. For $10 a month, you will receive a makeup bag containing 4-5 deluxe beauty samples. You often receive full size products, and the overall value of each bag will vary from month to month, but it is always well over the $10 subscription fee. The theme for June is Pretty in Paradise: “Warm white sandy beaches or a cafe under a star filled night sky, being pretty in YOUR paradise is only a Glam Bag away. We picked products that are excellent for an extravagant getaway or a quintessential kit for a quick trip for some peace and quiet.” Sounds good to me, so let’s check out what was inside the bag.
Marc Anthony Dream Waves Beach Spray: “Create natural, effortless, beach hair worn loose, soft and wavy. It adds body and texture to straight, fine strands or pumps up the curl in already wavy hair. Add extra definition to your wavy layers. Hydrolyzed Silk and Provitamin B5 protect your tresses while adding moisture and shine. Powerful UV Protectors absorb ultraviolet light to save your mane from harmful sun exposure, dehydration and color-fade. You’re left with manageable, touchable waves. Even the straightest hair can achieve tousled beach hair any time of year.” Ispy uses Walgreens as the distributer for this product. Full size is 4.2 fl oz, worth $8.79 at walgreens.com. Sample is 1.52 fl oz, worth $3.18.
Be A Bombshell Lash Out Mascara: “A rich pigmented mascara with a lengthening formula that offers a multidimensional look.” I believe that this is a full sized product, worth $15 at beabombshellcosmetics.com.
NYX Butter Gloss in Crème Brulee: “Buttery soft and silky smooth, the scrumptious new NYX Butter Lip Gloss tastes as sweet as a sugar cookie—and makes your lips look downright luscious. Swipe it on alone or over your favorite lipstick for creamy sheer to medium coverage that melts onto your lips and is never sticky.” This is full size, worth $5.00 at nyxcosmetics.com.
OFRA Universal Eyebrow Pencil: “OFRA’s Universal Eyebrow Pencil is a resistant pencil suitable for the most sensitive eye area. It is the perfect solution for your eyebrows and is called Universal Eyebrow Pencil for a reason as it is one color to suit all skin tones. It is soft enough and will make it easy for you to create a perfect shape. Can be applied directly to the eyebrow area then smudge gently with a small brush applicator. Created with a synthetic Beeswax base for a smooth, soft and long lasting application which will also hold those pesky stray eyebrow hairs in place.” This sample is full sized, and worth $13 at ofracosmetics.com.
Realtree for Her Fragrance: “Originating from the creator and marketer of the worlds most versatile camo pattern makers, Realtree has decided to develop a sensitive yet delicious fragrance that captures you. Realtree for Her opens up with the sweet taste of pomegranate, a hint of persimmon and an exotic scent of orchids. It blends with lotus blossom and champaca flower and is followed by the rich scent of amber, the transient scent of violets and the depth of mahogany wood. This scent is not only a whirlwind of feelings, but it stands alone with the Realtree brand. Giving you the excellence of Realtree and the softness of perfume. Enjoy!” Full size is 3.4 fl oz, worth $24.99 at realtreebeauty.com. Sample is 0.16 fl oz, worth $1.18.
It is also worth noting that June’s bag was designed by Rebecca Minkoff. An industry leader in accessible luxury handbags, accessories, footwear and apparel, Rebecca Minkoff’s playful and subtly edgy designs can be spotted around the world on young women and celebrities alike.
The grand total worth of my June Ipsy bag is $37.36, plus the designer bag. For the most part I am very pleased with my June Ipsy bag. I am happy to get the beach spray because, even though my stick-straight hair will probably not cooperate, I refuse to admit defeat and want to keep trying to get those beachy summer waves. Wish me luck. The OFRA eyebrow pencil intrigues me because I am currently using a deluxe sample of the IT Cosmetics Universal Brow Pencil, and I wonder how it compares. The RealTree fragrance smells pretty nice, and I would actually use it. I like the formula of the NYX Butter Glosses, and though I was originally kind of bummed about getting the shade Crème Brulee, I am already getting more use out of it than I thought I would. The only real dud for me is the Be A Bombshell Lash Out Mascara. I was happy to receive it until I opened it up and smelled it. It smells awful, which makes me nervous. I did a skin test and had no reaction, but I am hesitant to put something so stinky near my eye. Some people are reporting that the smell is from the wand and not the mascara, and Be a Bombshell is testing to see if something went wrong with this batch. I have been a subscriber to Ipsy since October 2012, and I have never had any problems with the products they have sent. I may not have liked them all, but they haven’t been damaged or harmful. I am interested to see how Ipsy handles the situation. If you got the Be A Bombshell Lash Out Mascara in your Ipsy bag, let me know if you have used it and what your thoughts are. Otherwise the bag was great, and definitely worth my $10 subscription fee.
