Today I have Suave Keratin Infusion Color Care Dry Shampoo for review. I ran out of my beloved Batiste dry shampoo, and while waiting for it to go on sale at Ulta, I decided to try a new brand. Though my last drugstore dry shampoo (Tesemme Fresh Start Volumizing Dry Shampoo) was not a success, which you can read about in my Battle of the Brands: Dry Shampoo post, I opted to try another drugstore brand. I chose Suave because it is a trusted brand, and because it is really cheap. This full size can of Keratin Infusion Color Care Dry Shampoo was under $3. Unfortunately, in this case, you get what you pay for.
According to Suave, the Keratin Infusion Color Care Dry Shampoo is “Formulated with KERALOCK technology, our refreshing Color Care Dry Shampoo is a quick and convenient way to refresh and revive hair between regular washes.” When I buy a dry shampoo, what I am looking for is good oil absorption and added volume and texture. Suave Keratin Infusion Color Care Dry Shampoo failed to deliver on all fronts. When I use Batiste or Psssst! dry shampoo, I can see an obvious difference in how clean my hair looks. Batiste almost gives me a freshly washed look, but Suave Keratin Infusion Color Care Dry Shampoo did not do that at all. It didn’t seem to absorb anything, and left my hair looking stringy and dull. It also gave me no texture. I have very fine, limp hair, so the added texture that a dry shampoo provides is half the reason I buy it in the first place. Suave Keratin Infusion Color Care Dry Shampoo did nothing for me. It does not feel sticky or wet like the horrible Tresemme dry shampoo, so it is at least better than that one. But it does make my hair feel like straw. It is just a really bad product.
I have to say that Suave Keratin Infusion Color Care Dry Shampoo is not worth trying. I also couldn’t stand the smell. To me, (and I admit that I may be crazy on this one) it smelled like a mixture of old lady floral perfume, baby powder, and litter box. It is just gross. After trying four different brands of dry shampoo in the under $10 category, I am officially sticking with Batiste. It is by far the best. Psssst!, which is now available at Ulta, is a close second. Whatever you do, though, be sure to stay away from Tesemme Fresh Start Volumizing Dry Shampoo and Suave Keratin Infusion Color Care Dry Shampoo. They are not worth the hassle and a total waste of money.
