Today I have these Black Lace Nail Stickers from the Born Pretty Store to review for you. I have several reviews for products that I have received from the Born Pretty Store, including nail wraps, water decals, stamping plates and more. You can see the other BPS reviews I have done by clicking on the Born Pretty Store link in the “Categories” section on the right hand side of the blog.
These stickers seem to be having an identity crisis. If you read the instruction, you can see that these are supposed to be water decals. I’m pretty sure that when I ordered them (admittedly a while ago) they were advertised as water decals. They are now clearly stated on the BPS website as nail stickers because they are definitely not decals. Water won’t hurt them, and I soaked the first few thinking that they were water decals. Here is a shot of the instruction on the back of the package but they are definitely stickers, and you should apply them like you would any other sticker.
I chose Ulta’s Nail Polish in Goddess as my base color because I love black lace over a nude base. My nails are on the shorter side at the moment, so I chose to use the smaller lace pattern. Each row was enough to cover five nails. The stickers have a very strong adhesive, so you need to be very careful where you place them. They do not want to come back up without pulling your polish with them, so make sure that you know where you want them to go. On the plus side, though, that super sticky adhesive means that they won’t budge and wear a really long time. Unfortunately the stickers are on the thicker side. They feel stiff, and they have a visible raised line where the sticker edge is on the nail. That’s the biggest reason that I prefer water decals to nail stickers, because water decals are so flat that you can’t see the edges. If I had known that they were stickers, I would have used a different base color that would hide that edge a little better. It is definitely less noticeable in real life then it is in photos.
The black “lace” is very pretty and the larger lace pattern would look amazing on longer nails. If you like nail stickers for their ease and don’t mind a slightly raised edge, then these Black Lace Nail Stickers may be a good choice for you. They are currently on sale at the BPS website for $0.99 and there are 4 pattern sheets to choose from, so if you are interested you should get over there soon.
