Black Radiance Eye Appeal Shadow palette in Urban Jungle

Black Radiance Eye Appeal Shadow palette in Urban Jungle

Today I finally have swatches for my Black Radiance Eye Appeal Shadow Collection palette in Urban Jungle.  I mentioned this palette in my monthly favorites a couple months ago and got a few questions about it, so I wanted to swatch it for you, but haven’t had the chance until now.  Black Radiance is a Markwins Beauty Product line, and Markins are the makers of Wet n Wild cosmetics.  That’s why this palette looks so familiar, and also why it rocks.

Here is what Black Radiance has to say about the palettes: “Eye Appeal Shadow Collection – a luxurious palette of 8 silky, ultra-pigmented shades in matte, pearl, metallic and shimmering finishes to create endless day to night looks. The long lasting formula strokes on smoothly and blends beautifully. Each palette features captivating colors with imprinted application guide, as well as, a dual-ended eye shadow applicator and beauty tips to create 4 different looks from chic to seductive. Experiment with color. Create your own new Eye-dentity!

The shadows in the Black Radiance Urban Jungle palette perform just as you would expect any Wet n Wild shadows to perform.  What that means is that they are very soft, ultra pigmented, extremely blendable, and they last all day with or without a primer.  Wet n Wild shadows are often comsidered the best shadows in the drugstore by the beauty community, and these Black Radiance shadows are no different.

Urban Jungle is a gorgeous mix of browns and greens.

The left side of the palette contains a shimmery vanilla shade as a browbone highlight.  The Eyelid color is a metallic, light yellow-green shade.  It has a gorgeous metallic olive for the crease shade, and the accent shade is a cool-toned bronzy brown with a satin finish.

The color really kicks up on the right side of the palette starting with that lemon butter yellow browbone shade.  The lid color is a medium brown satin finish shade.  For a crease shade, we have that dark jungle green that is super pigmented.  For an accent we have a very deep plummy chocolate brown with copper micro-glitter.  This shade is present in the Wet n Wild 8-pan line.

Don’t be too distracted by the bold shades in this palette, thinking that you can’t pull off an everyday look.  Below is a very natural look that I pulled together incorporating both sides of the palette.  It’s perfectly work appropriate for the day time.

Some of you may be wondering how close Urban Jungle is to WnW Comfort Zone.  The two palettes are similar in that they both live in the same shade family, but you can see by the picture below, (all of my photos can be enlarged by clicking on them) that they are very different.  Comfort Zone doesn’t have as many green shades, and instead has more neutrals.  Urban Jungle is definitely more suited for a green eyeshadow lover, like me.

I absolutely think that Black Radiance Eye Appeal Shadow Collection palette in Urban Jungle is well worth getting.  Black radiance can be difficult to locate, but I’ve had luck at Walmart, Walgreens, and select Rite-Aid and CVS stores.  Be careful, though.  I have found that some stores have a really big mark-up on Black Radiance products.  I got my palette for $4.99, the same price as the WnW palettes, but some stores have them for $6-7, so be sure to pay attention to the price.

Urban Jungle gets my stamp of approval.

Monthly Favorites: September 2012

September 2012 Monthly Favorites

It’s the first week of October, which means it is time for my monthly favorites of September.  These are the products that I especially enjoyed, and found myself reaching for over and over again during the course of the month.  To see what my non-beauty favorites were for the month, click on over to my other blog, Defies Description.

Aveeno Positively Radiant Daily Cleansing Pads

A rediscovered favorite of mine is the Aveeno Positively Radiant Daily Cleansing Pads.  I used to use these all of the time, but had gotten away from them while I was using other cleansers.  I started to use them again in September and couldn’t understand why I stopped in the first place.  They are quick and easy to use, and leave my skin clean and exfoliated, without over drying.  I have a full review of them here, so check it.

Black Radiance Urban Jungle

I have been loving this 8-pan palette from Black Radiance.  Urban Jungle is a gorgeous mix of greens and browns, shades which we’ve already established to be by weakness.  Black Radiance is made by the same company that makes Wet n Wild, so these shadows are just as fabulous as the WnW 8-pan palettes that we all know and love.  I actually want to do a more in-depth review on Urban Jungle with some compare/contrast swatches to WnW Comfort Zone, so I won’t say too much more here.  Urban Jungle is versatile, and has been perfect to transition into fall.

Tarte Lights, Camera, Lashes mascara

Tarte Lights, Camera, Lashes mascara is my favorite, Holy Grail mascara.  I have sad, wimpy lashes, and Lights, Camera, Lashes makes them look like they have some life to them.  I do not like paying full price for it, though.  Luckily Ulta had Lights, Camera, Lashes as one of the 21 Days of Beauty specials, so I was able to pick it up for only $10.  I can’t say enough good things about this mascara.  With the holidays coming, Tarte may have some value kits coming out that include this mascara, and if they do, you should totally pick Lights, Camera, Lashes up to try it out.

(L)Revlon Lip Butter in Pink Truffle (R)Revlon Balm Stain in Romantic

My go-to lip all month has been one of two shades, both from Revlon.  The first is the Revlon Lip Butter in Pink Truffle, which is a deep brownish pink neutral.  This is a shade that looks fantastic with my skin, and goes with everything.  The other product I’ve been using is Revlon Just Bitten Kissable Balm Stain in Romantic, which is a sheer tomato red.  The Balm Stains can be built up for major impact, but I’ve been liking Romantic on the lighter side like my swatch below.

(L) Pink Truffle (R) Romantic

I have reviewed both the Lip Butters and the Just Bitten Kissable Balm Stains, so be sure to check them out here and here for more info.  I love warm-toned brown and red-ish lips for Fall.  I know that berries and purples are in, but I feel those are more winter shades.  Pink Truffle and Romantic are perfect for me right now.

NYX Slide On… Pencil in Brown Perfection

NYX Slide On Pencil Eyeliner in Brown Perfection has been my go-to eyeliner all month long.  I have an in-depth review with swatches of the four shades I own here, so be sure to read my rave.  In short, this is one of NYX’s best products, in my opinion, and they are as good as $20+ eyeliners.  Brown Perfection is a deep dark brown.  I prefer brown liner to black when I’m wearing warm eye looks.  The brown softens the look and makes it more natural.  If you haven’t tried NYX Slide On Pencil Eyeliners yet, go do it.  Do it now.  Trust me, it’s worth it.

That is it for my favorites for September.  I hope that you saw something that you liked.  I hope that you check out my non-beauty favs over at defiesdescription.wordpress.com as well.  What about you, what were your favorites for September?  Let me know in the comments below.
