Ulta Haul

Ulta Haul

It’s haul time y’all.  I have been so good so far this year at not buying any beauty products, but I definitely took advantage of Ulta’s 21 Days of Beauty and their 20% off coupon to pick up some great deals and some items that had been on my wish list for a while.  I didn’t get all of this at once.  This is three orders spread out over the last four or five weeks.  Let’s take a look.

BECCA Best Of Becca Blushed Radiance set

BECCA Best Of Becca Blushed Radiance set

BECCA Best Of Becca Blushed Radiance set: Create the iconic BECCA glow with a collection of bestselling products that impart natural luminosity and a subtle flush of colour. Includes: Mineral Blush in Flower Child (0.087 oz), Shimmering Skin Perfector Pressed in Opal (0.085 oz), Shimmering Skin Perfector Spotlight Wand in Moonstone (0.17 oz), and Backlight Priming Filter (0.2 oz).  I have been wanting to try some more Becca products for the last year or so.  I only have one small sample size of the Shimmering Skin Perfector in Opal and it’s beautiful.  I’ve missed out on previous sets like this, so I could not resist this one.  When I received the Platinum 20% off perk, I added this to my cart right away.  I am so excited to try these products out.

LORAC Riesling Romance Palette and CC Cream

LORAC Riesling Romance Palette and CC Cream

LORAC Riesling Romance Palette and CC Cream: LORAC’s Color Correcting (CC) Cream instantly neutralizes redness and imperfections with a natural-looking, semi-matte finish. This 6-in-1 specially-tinted makeup neutralizes, primes, moisturizes, brightens, soothes and helps your skin look healthy and youthful. CC Cream is oil, silicone, paraben and fragrance free and is suitable for all skin types.  Both of these items were 21 DoB deals.  The Riesling Romance Palette was a Black Friday special that I missed out on, so I wanted to pick it up when I saw that it was back.  The CC Cream was a gamble for me.  I don’t have a lot of experience with CC Creams, but I like Lorac, so at half price I wanted to give it a shot.

Stila One Step Correct Triple Swirl Helix Primer

Stila One Step Correct Triple Swirl Helix Primer

Stila One Step Correct Triple Swirl Helix Primer: This primer, color corrector, brightener and anti-aging skincare serum does it all with the help of Stila’s Youth Revival Bio-Available Mineral Complex. Green tone instantly neutralizes redness and conceals blemishes. Lavender tone counteracts sallow undertones for a vibrant, energized look. Peach tone brightens, illuminates and helps diminish the appearance of sun spots. The weightless, creamy formula blends imperceptibly into skin and won’t clog pores or settle into fine lines…so all anyone will notice is your perfectly flawless skin!  I had heard some good things about this primer, and color correction is something that I definitely need.  The 21 DoB price point was easier for me to swallow than regular price, so I went ahead and took the plunge.  I’ve tried it a few times so far, and am still making up my mind.  I’m glad that I got it, but I’m not sure that I love it yet.

Makeup Revolution New-Trals vs. Neutrals Eyeshadow Palette

Makeup Revolution New-Trals vs. Neutrals Eyeshadow Palette

Makeup Revolution New-Trals vs. Neutrals Eyeshadow Palette: New-Trals are the new Neutrals! Upgrade your new natural eye looks with the new generation of natural shades in Makeup Revolution’s New-Trals vs. Neutrals.  I have been really enjoying the products that I have tried from Makeup Revolution, and this palette is gorgeous.  It was already in my wish list when all the hype for the Too Faced Sweet Peach Palette hit.  I see some similar shades in this palette to the Sweet Peach.  I’m not saying that they are dupes, but I think this palette will help stave off the temptation to buy the Peach palette.  Since this palette is $10, you can use the Ulta $3.50 off of $10 coupon and get it for $6.50, which is worlds better than the $49 for the Too Faced palette.

Essence Lash Princess Volume Mascara and

Essence Lash Princess Volume Mascara and CoverGirl The Super Sizer Mascara

Essence Lash Princess Volume Mascara: Get the royal treatment! Essence’s Lash Princess Volume Mascara is presented in a fantastic evening gown design and has a unique wand applicator designed for extra control to reach every lash. The prestige inspired cobra brush is specially shaped to lift, separate, and cover each individual lash for the most majestic volumeCoverGirl The Super Sizer Mascara: The CoverGirl Super Sizer Mascara gives you 400% more volume for fuller lashes.  I’ve been having problems with mascara lately.  I’ve been trying to go through all of the samples and gift with purchase mascaras that I have, but I haven’t been liking any of them.  I have heard a lot of people rave about this CoverGirl mascara for the last year, so I am finally going to bite the bullet and try it out.  I also picked up the Essence Lash Princess because I have used it before and know that I really like it.  So, if the CoverGirl mascara bombs, at least I’ll have a mascara that I know I will enjoy to fall back on.

Real Techniques Brush Cleansing Palette

Real Techniques Brush Cleansing Palette

Real Techniques Brush Cleansing Palette: The Real Techniques Brush Cleansing Palette helps sweep away makeup, oil, and impurities from bristles to give you truer, more consistent color application. Performance-grade silicone is lightweight and ergonomically designed to fit comfortably over your hand. Exclusive multi-textured surfaces designed to gently work between the bristles for enhanced deep cleansing. All synthetic materials that are easy to clean, and 100% cruelty-free. Heat resistant and dishwasher safe.  I had to try this new Real Techniques Brush Cleansing Palette.  This is an obvious drugstore take on the Sigma Spa Brush Cleaning products that are ridiculously priced.  This handy little gadget is about $15, which some of you may still this is ridiculously priced, but again, you can use the Ulta $3.50 off of $10 coupon to knock it down to $11.50.  With two brush cleanser samples included, I thought it was a reasonable price to try it out.  Anything to make brush cleaning faster and more efficient.

So that’s my haul.  I should be set for some time.  Several of these items have been in my wish list for a while, so I’m very excited to play with them.  Did you take advantage of Ulta’s 21 days of Beauty?  How about the 20% off coupon for Platinum members?  Or have you been saving your money for Sephora’s spring sale?  Let me know what you’ve been hauling in the comments below.

ColourPop Haul Including the New Ultra Satin Lips

Standard
ColourPop Haul

ColourPop Haul

Surprise, it’s a ColourPop haul!  My last ColourPop haul was back in June, and I had some mixed reviews of the products.  I really loved the blushes that I bought, but I found several of the shadows too glittery and messy.  I am on their mailing list, and I have seen some very tempting collections come through in the intervening months.  I finally decided that it was time to try some new products from ColourPop and give them another chance.  I also really wanted to try the new Ultra Satin Lips that just launched.  This haul is mostly lip products and a couple of shadows that I could not resist.  I have swatched everything for you, but have not had the chance to try the products, so I can’t say whether or not they are any good.  I can say that they swatch beautifully.  Take a look.

ColourPop Lippie Stix in Grunge

ColourPop Lippie Stix in Grunge

The biggest temptation for me was this past Fall when ColourPop released their 90’s collection.  I love the 90’s and I wanted everything, but I held off because I was saving up for Christmas presents for my friends and family.  They still have several of the items available, so I chose to pick up the Lippie Stix in Grunge.  ColourPop describes Grunge as a “cool-toned plum brown in a Matte finish“.  I’ve seen people wearing this color in Youtube videos and it always look so nice.  I haven’t tried any of the other Lippie Stix yet, but this shade really called to my inner 90’s kid.

ColourPop Super Shock Shadow in Central Perk

ColourPop Super Shock Shadow in Central Perk

Also part of the 90’s collection is this Super Shock Shadow in Central Perk.  I like the ColourPop Super Shock formula but had trouble with the glittery shades.  Central Perk is completely matte, so I have high hopes for how it will perform.  ColourPop describes it as a “dirty maroon in a Matte finish“.  I’ve seen swatches, and it is the one shadow in the collection that repeatedly made me think to myself, “I need that.”  I’ve swatched it blow, and it is lovely.

ColourPop Super Shock Shadow in Telepathy

ColourPop Super Shock Shadow in Telepathy

The second Super Shock Shadow that I picked up is Telepathy from the Kathleen Lights “Where the Night” Is collection.  Telepathy is “A bright gold with a green undertone in an Ultra- Metallic finish,” according to ColourPop.  Though it is hard to tell in the swatch below, the green is definitely a factor making this shadow so unique.  This shade is bad-ass, and I had to have it.  Here are the swatches of Telepathy on the left and Central Perk on the right.  I can not wait to use them together.

ColourPop Ultra Matte Lip in Bumble

ColourPop Ultra Matte Lip in Bumble

I have been really hesitant to try the ColourPop Ultra Matte Lips, despite their popularity.  I have naturally dry lips, so the idea of putting an ultra matte liquid lipstick on makes me uncomfortable.  I have been performing a lot with my band, though, and we have some all-day faires and festivals lined up.  I wanted a lip color that would stay all day through singing and drinking a lot of water.  I also really hate transfer to my cups or straws.  I decided to give the Ultra Matte Lip in Bumble a try.  ColourPop describes it as a “dusty warm terracotta” shade. You can see a reflection is this photo where the swatch was thicker and hadn’t dried yet.  No worries though, these lip colors definitely dry down completely matte.

ColourPop Ultra Satin Lips in Lost (L) and FrickNFrack (R)

ColourPop Ultra Satin Lips in Lost (L) and Frick N’ Frack (R)

I wasn’t sure that my lips were going to be able to handle the Ultra Matte Lip, so I also really wanted to try these Ultra Satin Lips to see if they would be better.  They are brand spankin’ new, but I have seen reviews from those who got a pre-release from ColourPop.  Though the Ultra Satin Lips do transfer (sigh) they are supposed to last a really long time.  I chose to get two shades, Lost and Frick N’ Frack.  Lost is described as a “warm-toned brown red lippie,” and Frick N’ Frack is a “rosy terracotta.”  I can’t wait to test these two out.

That’s it, and I hope you enjoyed my haul.  All of the products look gorgeous, and I am excited to give them a try.  Have you tried any of these items from ColourPop?  I’d love to know what you thought about them.  I definitely plan to review the Ultra Satin Lips.  Do you want to see reviews of any of these other products?  Let me know in the comments below.

Birthday Haul: MAC, e.l.f., and Sephora

Haul time

Haul time

Hey everyone, I have a birthday haul to show you.  You have seemed to really enjoy haul posts in the past, so I thought that I would share what beauty items I got for my birthday this year.  This should go without saying because you all know me by now, but this post isn’t meant to be taken as bragging.  It’s all in the spirit of fun to be shared with other makeup addicts like myself.  I didn’t go to crazy this year, but I did get a few things from MAC, e.l.f., and Sephora.  If you see anything that you want a full review on, just let me know.

MAC

MAC Prep + Prime Lip

MAC Prep + Prime Lip

I only needed one thing from MAC, and that is the MAC Prep + Prime Lip.  I first got this product around the time of my wedding and loved it, but that was several years ago.  I haven’t had it in an extremely long time, but I always remembered how much I liked it.  I’ve tried many balms and lip treatments, but nothing works quite like MAC Prep + Prime Lip on my lips.  I don’t think everyone needs it, but my lips are extremely dry and lipsticks go on and wear so much better on me when I have Prep + Prime Lip.  I am very excited to have it in my collection once more.

e.l.f.

e.l.f. haul

e.l.f. haul

I finally broke down and placed an e.l.f. order.  I have been pretty unhappy with e.l.f.’s exclusion of new products in their promotions, and consequently have not placed an e.l.f. order in quite some time.  But I really wanted to try out the new Studio Contour Palette and one of the new Smudge pot shades.  I finally broke down and took advantage of one of their free shipping offers.  Also, in July e.l.f. offered a free gift with purchase to all customers, so they sent me two Expert Liquid Liners for free.  I am not sure if I am going to keep them or give them away, so I left them in their packages, but I appreciate the gesture.  Here is what I got:

  • New Studio Contour Palette
  • Contouring Blush & Bronzing Powder in Fiji (Matte)
  • New Smudge Pot Cream Eyeshadow in Wine Not
  • 2 Expert Liquid Liners in Charcoal (free)

Sephora

Sephora haul

Sephora haul

I was super happy to get a gift card to Sephora from my sister for my birthday that let me get some items that I’ve been eying for a long time.  Most notably, the Hourglass Ambient Lighting Powder in Dim Light.  I mentioned in my June Favorites post how much I have been enjoying Diffused Light.  I have been going back and forth in my head for the better part of a year about if I wanted to get Dim Light as well, or possibly the Palette.  Finally, I decided to bite the bullet and get Dim Light.  I can’t wait to use it.  Here is what else I got from Sephora:

  • Hourglass Ambient Lighting Powder in Dim Light
  • Bite Beauty Luminous Crème Lipstick Duo in Fig/Date
  • Sephora Collection MicroSmooth Baked Blush Duo in Tea Rose Tickle
  • Sephora Collection MicroSmooth Baked Blush Duo in Tangerine Tease
  • Sephora Beauty Insider 2015 Birthday Gift
Sephora Beauty Insider 2015 Birthday Gift

Sephora Beauty Insider 2015 Birthday Gift

Let’s take a closer look at the Sephora Beauty Insider Birthday Gift.  Many of you are probably familiar with it, but if you haven’t seen it, Sephora paired with NARS to give us two mini lip pencils.  In the box, which is free to anyone who signs up for Sephora’s Beauty Insider points program, we get mini versions of the Satin Lip Pencil in Rikugien and the Velvet Matte Lip Pencil in Cruella.  I have personally never used a NARS lip pencil, so I am really happy to have them.  The shades are really pretty, and that lovely matte red is going to be gorgeous in the Fall and Winter months.  Sephora’s birthday gift certainly beats Ulta’s 2015 birthday gift (which has changed each quarter and is currently an Urban Decay Perversion Mascara), at least in my opinion.

And that is it for my Birthday haul.  I do have a couple things coming from Ulta, but they won’t be here until the end of the week.  Like I said, I didn’t go crazy this year as far as buying makeup.  I still had fun, and was able to get a couple things that I have really been wanting.  I hope that you liked my haul, and you will be seeing some of these products again in reviews.  But please, if there is anything specific that you want a review on, let me know in the comments below.

4th of July Haul: Michael Todd True Organics and Milani

Standard
shopping

Haul time

Hello everyone, it’s haul time.  You have seemed to really like past hauls, so I thought that you might want to see what I purchased over the weekend for the 4th of July sales that were going on.  There were several sales happening, but I was pretty selective in my shopping.  The main thing that I actually needed was skin care, and boy did I take care of that need.  😉  I have a massive haul from Michael Todd True Organics and a much smaller haul from Milani to show you.  So let’s get started.

Michael Todd True Organics

Michael Todd True Organics

I have been obsessively stalking the Michael Todd True Organics facebook page, waiting for a sale.  Finally, on the 4th there was a 30% off flash sale and I pounced on it.  My skin has been changing from dry to more normal and I have always had an issue with large pores and minor acne even when it was bone dry, so I wanted to branch out a little in my choices.  I decided that the best bang for my buck would be to purchase two skincare regimens, which are already discounted.  They were out of the regimen for regular dry skin, so I got the Dry Sensitive Skin Regimen (which I have gotten before and loved) and the Normal/Combination Regimen.

Dry Sensitive Skin Regimen

Dry Sensitive Skin Regimen

The Dry Sensitive Skin Regimen comprises the following:

  • HONEY AND OAT gentle deep pore cleanser completely removes dirt, oil, makeup and other impurities without stripping the skin’s natural moisture. Oat Extract deep cleans and Honey adds back moisture. Rinses thoroughly without residue leaving skin feeling clean, soft, smooth and refreshed. 210ml / 7 fl oz
  • CRANBERRY ANTIOX TONER combination hydrating antioxidant toner, Formulated for dryer and more mature skin types. Cleans and restores the skin’s proper pH without the drying effects of alcohol. Cranberry and Antioxidant Vitamins help fight bacteria and environmental damage. Skin looks fresher and healthier and feels cool and refreshed. • TROPICAL FRUIT SCRUB combination hydrating exfoliant scrub. Certified Vegan. 100 ml / 3.4 fl oz
  • HYDRATION BOOST Blue Green Alage and Hyaluronic Facial Serum.
  • INTENSIVE Organic Cream Eye Treatment with Haloxyl and Eyeliss treats the delicate skin of the under eye areas and eye lids. Whether you are looking to remove fine lines and wrinkles, reduce dark circles, eliminate puffiness or regenerate skin cells to keep yourself looking your best for years to come, INTENSIVE does it all. 15 ml / .5 fl oz
  • CHARCOAL detoxifying facial mask. Detoxifying skin treatment that uses the extra absorbent power of mineral rich Charcoal as it exfoliates to draw out impurities and toxins and clear the skin of excess oil, dirt and other pollutants. 100 ml / 3.4 fl oz
Normal/Combination Skin Regimen

Normal/Combination Skin Regimen

And here is what comes in the Normal/Combination Skin Regimen:

  • CLEANSE AND TONE 3 in 1 Make-up Remover, Cleanser and Toner specifically designed for those who are looking to simplify their skincare routine.  Save time on your skincare routine by cleansing, removing make-up and toning, all in one simple step.   210 ml / 7 fl oz
  • ANTIOX SERUM Concentrated antioxidant facial serum blended with DMAE and potent “universal antioxidant” Alpha Lipoic Acid to nourish the skin, diminish fine lines and wrinkles, repair past skin damage and fight future damage. Includes extracts of oranges, lemons and cranberries and essential oils of sweet orange, lemon, lime, tangerine and bergamot to soothe, moisturize and nourish.Gives skin a vibrant, healthy looking glow. 30ml / 1 fl oz
  • LIPOSOME ANTIOX SERUM A soothing cream moisturizer made with organic ingredients and liposomes to transport antioxidants deep into the skin to restore and maintain healthy skin, counteract sun damage and fight premature skin aging and wrinkles. Hyaluronic Acid (humectant) attracts moisture to the skin restoring the skin’s optimal moisture balance. DMAE firms and improves the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. 70 ml/ 2.4 fl oz
  • PUMPKIN Formulated with vitamin rich pumpkin and a blend of gentle exfoliants, PUMPKIN MASK dissolves dead dulling skin cells as it infuses fresh new skin with protective antioxidants and strengthening vitamins. PUMPKIN MASK is a weekly facial rejuvenating treatment that will leave skin glowing. 100 ml / 3.4 fl oz
  • TROPICAL FRUIT SCRUB combination hydrating exfoliant scrub. Naturally fruity refreshing skin treatment that uses the power of Papaya and Pineapple Enzymes as a mild non-irritating exfoliant to remove dead skin, impurities and toxins without irritation caused by scrubbing. 96% Organic. Certified Vegan. 100 ml / 3.4 fl oz

So, I know have an army of skincare with only the Intensive Organic Cream Eye Treatment and the Tropical Fruit Scrub repeated.  I am thrilled to have more of the eye treatment.  The more the better in that department.  I am less interested in the Tropical Fruit Scrub, and don’t really need two of those, but overall I think that getting both regimens was a good choice for my skin needs.  I know that this looks like a lot, and it is, but with the discounts they were down to basically $10 each, a real steal.

Milani haul

Milani haul

Since I went so big on my skincare purchase, I kept my makeup purchases small and only shopped the Milani sale that I told you about here on the blog.  I have been meaning to try out the Bella Eyes Gel Powder Eyeshadows that came out last year, but hadn’t gotten around to them.  I also was quite interested in the Milani Power Lip Gloss Stains.  Here is what I purchased:

  • Bella Eyes Gel Powder Eyeshadow in Bella Champagne, Bella Purple, Bella Khaki, and Bella Emerald
  • Anti-Feathering Lip Liner
  • Power Lip Lasting Gloss Stains in Pink Lemonade and Creamy Cafe
  • Color Statement Nail Lacquer in Mint Crush- Milani threw in a free nail polish with my order, and I was able to pick the shade.

That is it for my haul.  I am very impressed with both companies for getting my order to me so quickly, especially since shipping was free for both.  I ordered on Saturday the 4th, and they were both at my door today, Wednesday the 8th.  Did you shop the 4th of July sales over the weekend?  If so, I’d love to know what you got in the comments below.

Colourpop Haul

Colourpop Haul

Colourpop Haul

So, this happened.  Yep, I finally gave in and placed an order for some Colourpop cosmetics.  The internet has been all abuzz over Colourpop for some time now.   Colourpop Super Shock Shadows + Pigments have become a bit of a cult favorite, especially on Youtube.  Finally, I decided that I needed to try them out, so I spent some time on the web looking at swatches and reviews to see what I wanted to get.  Over Memorial Day weekend, Colourpop celebrated their one year anniversary.  They offered a special that included a new shade of Super Shock Shadow in Birthday Girl for free with every order.  That (and free shipping over $30) pushed me over the edge.  Here is what I got.

Colourpop Super Shock Cheek in:

  • Quarters
  • Bonus
  • Between the Sheets

Colourpop Super Shock Shadows + Pigments in:

  • Partridge
  • So Quiche
  • Get Lucky
  • Amaze
Colourpop Super Shock Shadow in Birthday Girl

Colourpop Super Shock Shadow in Birthday Girl

And here is a close up of Birthday Girl.  It was a real challenge trying to choose what shades to get because Colourpop has a ton of products that all look fantastic.  I wanted to get a good selection, but I also didn’t want to go crazy and buy everything.  Colourpop is quite affordable, but even inexpensive makeup adds up when you try to buy it all, haha.  I will definitely be reviewing and swatching everything.  I am sure that you are wondering, like I was, if Colourpop is worth all the hype?  We shall see.

Sleek Makeup Haul

Sleek Makeup Haul

Sleek Makeup Haul

I am back from vacation, and I have a haul to show you today.  Before I left I placed an order with Sleek Makeup because they were offering a sale and free shipping to the US.  If you are not familiar with Sleek, they are a popular UK brand that is known for good quality at low prices.  They kind of remind me of NYX Cosmetics here in the States.  Sleek just released some new Eye & Cheek Palettes that looked great to me, so I wanted to check them out.  I also still hadn’t gotten my hands on the Garden of Eden Palette from last Spring and I felt that the time had finally come.  I took photos and swatched everything that I got, but I haven’t used anything yet, so this isn’t an actual review.  I have used Sleek eyeshadows and blushes in the past and like them a lot, so I knew what I was getting into.  But enough jabber, let’s take a look.

Sleek I-Divine Eyeshadow Platte in Garden of Eden

Sleek I-Divine Eyeshadow Palette in Garden of Eden

This is the Sleek I-Divine Eyeshadow Palette in Garden of Eden.  For those of you who haven’t seen the Sleek I-Divine Eyeshadow Palettes before, they all contain twelve shades, and the palette has a full mirror.  There is a long dual-ended sponge tip applicator included as well.  There are currently thirteen I-Divine Eyeshadow Palettes available on Sleek’s website, but only some of them are available to be shipped to the US.  I am not totally sure why, because some of the palettes that have been able to ship to the US in the past are no longer able.  There are different rules as far as what pigments are acceptable in Europe than there are in the US, and I know that is part of the issue, especially with the neon shades.  Just be sure that, if you live in the US, you pay attention to what palettes can be shipped to you, and which ones can’t.

Sleek Garden of Eden Palette

Sleek Garden of Eden Palette

The Garden of Eden Palette is full of greens, browns, and taupes.  This palette was made for me.  Here is what Sleek has to say: “Enhance what mother nature gave you with the striking, beautiful colours of our new Garden of Eden i-Divine eyeshadow palette. An earthy, nature inspired palette that echoes the hues of a stunning tropical jungle with ultra-wearable earthy browns, dusky purples and organic greens.”  There are seven high shimmer shades, two shades with a matte base with microglitter inclusions, and three true matte shades.  The taupe shades all have a lavender undertone to them.  I have swatched all twelve shades below.  To swatch them, I split the palette in the middle, with the six left hand shades in the first swatch and the six right hand shades in the second swatch.

Sleek Garden of Eden Palette Left side

Sleek Garden of Eden Palette Left side

The shades in this swatch are Gates of Eden, Eve’s Kiss, and Paradise on Earth on the top.  Then there are Entwined, Adam’s Apple, and Fig on the bottom.  This is on bare skin with no primer.  Adam’s Apple is a matte shade, and Entwined is a matte base with some glitter.  The left side of the palette seems to contain all of the lighter shades.  They all swatched well with the exception of Adam’s Apple.  That shade doesn’t seem as pigmented as the others, and will need a base to show up well.

Sleek Garden of Eden Palette Right side

Sleek Garden of Eden Palette Right side

The right side of the palette contains Python, Forbidden, and Flora on the top.  On the bottom the shades are Evergreen, Fauna, and Tree of Life.   Forbidden is mostly matte, with less glitter than Entwined contained.  Flora and Tree of Life are both completely matte.  Again, all of these shades swatched well with the exception of Tree of Life.  It swatched unevenly.  It is absolutely still workable, but you will have to fiddle with it a little.  Sleek does a much better job on the skimmer shades than the matte shades.  Overall, though, I am pleased with the Garden of Eden Palette and can’t wait to use it.

New Sleek Eye & Cheek Palette

New Sleek Eye & Cheek Palette

Now on to the brand new Sleek Eye & Cheek Palettes.  The palettes come with four eyeshadows and two blushes, though some of the blushes would also make great eye shades.  There is a full size mirror in the palette, and they come with a small dual-ended sponge tip applicator and a small blush brush.  The eyeshadows are a decent size, and I will have no issue getting my brushes in there.  The blush wells could be a tad bigger in my opinion, but I have dealt with smaller.  I like to use a large duo fiber brush for my blush, which may be a little big for this palette but a smaller blush brush would work perfectly.  I purchased three of the new Eye & Cheek Palettes

Sleek Eye & Cheek Palette in Dancing Til Dusk

Sleek Eye & Cheek Palette in Dancing Til Dusk

Sleek Eye & Cheek Palette in Dancing Til Dusk

Sleek Eye & Cheek Palette in Dancing Til Dusk

First up is the Sleek Eye & Cheek Palette in Dancing Til Dusk.  According to Sleek, “Dancing Til Dusk includes velvety browns and shimmering fawns from our Au Naturel i-Divine palette. With radiant Blush shades Mirrored Pink, an iridescent soft pink and Sahara, a matte, dark coral, for a sophisticated finish.”  This is a warm neutral palette that would work for most people.  There are two matte shadows and two shimmer shades.  While the shimmery pink blush isn’t my favorite part of the palette, that gorgeous orangey-coral blush is what pushed me over the edge to buy Dancing Til Dusk.  Both blushes have a ton of pigmentation.  Dancing Til Dusk is an easy, everyday palette that looks to be very useful and travel friendly.

Sleek Eye & Cheek Palette in See You at Midnight

Sleek Eye & Cheek Palette in See You at Midnight

Sleek Eye & Cheek Palette in See You at Midnight

Sleek Eye & Cheek Palette in See You at Midnight

On the complete opposite end of the spectrum is the Sleek Eye & Cheek Palette in See You at Midnight.  Here is what Sleek says: “See You at Midnight combines deep blue and pearlescent purple eyeshadows from our Romance i-Divine Palette. Along with Blush in Pomegranate, a golden berry hue and Antique a shimmery dusky rose, for a captivating look.”  I have been wanting to get more into purple and berry eyeshadows, and this palette caught my eye.  I think that See You at Midnight will be pretty versatile.  There is obviously great potential to create crazy colorful looks with the blue, purple, and Pomegranate shades (I doubt I’d use Pomegranate as a blush, but it will be a sweet eyeshadow).  But you could also create a more classic look with the gold and eggplant shades paired with that neutral blush.  I am going to have a lot of fun playing with See You at Midnight, but I do not think that it is a stand-alone palette like the other two are.

Sleek Eye & Cheek Palette in A Midsummer's Dream

Sleek Eye & Cheek Palette in A Midsummer’s Dream

Sleek Eye & Cheek Palette in A Midsummer's Dream

Sleek Eye & Cheek Palette in A Midsummer’s Dream

The final Sleek Eye & Cheek Palette that I purchased is in A Midsummer’s Dream.  According to Sleek: “A Midsummer’s Dream is the perfect palette for hazy summer nights and features Marsala the pantone colour of 2015, in a stunning shimmery eyeshadow. Along with muted tones of grey, earthy brown, white and copper, the two beautiful coral blush shades add a bronzed highlight to the skin.”  This palette is much cooler in tone than Dancing Til Dusk.  Also, the matte coral blush is much less orange here than in Dancing Til Dusk.  I am in love with both blush shades.  I think the shadows are going to create some really beautiful looks, not just for Summer, but also throughout the Fall.  If your skintone can handle cooler-toned shades, A Midsummer’s Dream looks to be an excellent option.

And that concludes my Sleek Makeup Haul.  I can not wait to dig into these palettes and start creating looks.  If you are in the UK, I think that you can find Sleek at Boots.  The rest of us need to go to their website, sleekmakeup.com.  Sleek has some great prices.  The I-Divine palettes are only $11.99 and the new Eye & Cheek Palettes are $14.99.  As I mentioned before, this order had free shipping to the US, but if I remember correctly, shipping wasn’t too bad.  I have enjoyed the other palettes that I have from Sleek, and definitely think that they are worth checking out.

First off, an item that I needed to repurchase and one that I have mentioned several times on the blog is the Spongeables Pedi-Scrub Foot Buffer.  I usually get the pink version that has a Lavender and Tee Tree Oil scent, but they were out.  Instead I opted for the Citron Eucalyptus version, which is a nice scent, but pretty strong.  I love these scrubbers and I have been missing Spongeables while I’ve been out of them.  I definitely notice a difference when I don’t use them.  Ulta had them BOGO 50% off, and that sale is still currently on.

Maybelline Master Glaze and Master Conceal

Maybelline Master Glaze and Master Conceal

I went ahead and picked up the new Maybelline Master Conceal that I showed you yesterday.  I chose the shade “Light” and will be testing the concealer immediately so that I can get a review up as soon as possible.  I know that many of you will be curious to see how well it works.  I also finally picked up Maybelline Master Glaze Glistening Blush Stick in “Make a Mauve”.  I’ve been wanting “Make a Mauve” since it came out last year, but hadn’t gotten around to it.  I am so excited to finally have in it my possession.

New Essence Eyeshadow

New Essence Eyeshadow

I also grabbed some new items from Essence.  Essence is a brand that I have very little experience with.  I have found their products to be kind of hit and miss.  Some have been truly fantastic, though, so I definitely want to try more of their lineup, especially because Essence is so affordable.  Here is what I purchased:

  • Essence 3D Eyeshadow in Choco Cupcake
  • Essence 3D Eyeshadow in Caramel Cream
  • Essence Metal Glam Eyeshadow in Choco Chic
  • Essence Metal Glam Eyeshadow in Frosted Apple
Essence Lash Princess mascara

Essence Lash Princess mascara

The last item that I purchased is Essence Lash Princess Mascara.  “Get the royal treatment! Essence’s Lash Princess Volume Mascara is presented in a fantastic evening gown design and has a unique wand applicator designed for extra control to reach every lash. The prestige inspired cobra brush is specially shaped to lift, separate, and cover each individual lash for the most majestic volume.”  I totally bought this mascara for the freaking adorable packaging.  Just kidding.  (Sort of.)  Really though, I think that it will be a great formula to try and only $4.99.

I am very excited about all of my purchases.  I will be testing and swatching so that I can get the reviews up for you as soon as possible.  Please let me know in the comments below which new products you are the most interested in so that I can give those products priority.  Have you purchased any of these items?  Tell me what your experience was with them if you have.  Are any of these items on your wish list?  Let me know.

Bath and Body Works Semi-Annual Haul

Standard
Bath & Body Works

Bath & Body Works

You have mentioned in the past that you like to see my hauls, so today I wanted to show you what I picked up from the Bath and Body Works Semi-Annual sale.  I went back and forth for a long time as to whether or not I wanted to partake in the sale this time around or wait for the summer sale (I have a lot of B&BW products already).  Ultimately the $3 anti-bacterial soaps and a gift card that I got for my birthday finally convinced me to bite the bullet.  So, without further delay, here is everything that I bought.

Bath & Body Works Haul

Bath & Body Works Haul

You may notice that the soaps make up the majority of my order because that was the main thing that I was after.  I also am a really big fan of B&BW home fragrance products, so I decided to pick up some Wallflowers, a 3-wick candle, and I wanted to try the Scentportable for the first time.  I combined the already low prices due to the semi-annual sale with a 15% off coupon for online orders for a huge savings.  The Deep Cleansing Hand Soaps are usually $6.50 each, but my final price brought them down to $2.55.  The Shower gel is usually $11, but I paid $3.40.  There was a buy 3, get 1 free sale on the Scentportable line, so with that deal, plus the 15% off, I saved $5.25 on those products.  On Wallflowers, I was able to save $11.35, and the 3-wick candle was almost $13 less than regular price.  There is still time for you to save, because the sale isn’t quite over yet.  The semi-annual sale is always a great time to stock up on B&BW, because the savings really are fantastic.

Sandalwood Vanilla Candle

Sandalwood Vanilla Candle

I was very good, and only picked up one of the 3-wick candles.  I love burning B&BW candles in the living room where we can be constantly changing up the scent depending on our mood, rather than having a semi-permanent Wallflower scent.  B&BW 3-wick candles are my favorite.  I have tried other brands in similar styles, but B&BW candles burn the most evenly and have the best scent to permeate the room.  Sandalwood Vanilla is a warm, sultry scent that is wonderful or this time of year when late winter makes you want to be nice and cozy.

Bath & Body Works Home Frangrance

Bath & Body Works Home Fragrance

I really like B&BW Wallflowers in the rest of my house.  I have a good number of Wallflowers right now, but when I saw Autumn I had to get it.  It is one of my favorite B&BW scents.  I hate summer, so I start burning Autumn in August or September to try to usher in Fall as early as possible.  My husband enjoys the scent as much as I do, which helps.  I have never smelled Sun Drenched Vineyard, but the description “A full-bodied blend of rich fruit, white wine grapes and French oak recalls an unforgettable day at a family-run vineyard in a tiny Provençal village” sounded wonderful (albeit a bit ostentatious).  I wanted to give the Scentportables a try for the area were I keep my cat’s litter box.  It’s not in a good place for a Wallflower, so I am hoping a Scentportable can help keep cat odors at bay.  The Hubs and I chose Fresh Linen, Eucalyptus Mint, and Turquoise Waters, so we will see what works the best.

Bath & Body Works Soaps

Bath & Body Works Soaps

Finally, I have an army of Deep Cleansing Anti-bacterial Hand Soaps and one lonely little shower gel.  For the most part I resisted the lotions, body sprays, and bath gels because I am pretty well stocked up in that area already.  The only exception is a bottle of Wild Honeysuckle Shower Gel because it is only available online or during the semi-annual sale.  I love the scent, especially in the Spring and Summer.  Wild Honeysuckle has bright floral notes that remain light and fresh.

Soap is a product that I blow through like crazy.  I wash my hands a lot, and though this may seem like an excessive amount of soap, for me it really isn’t.  With a bottle in two bathrooms and the kitchen, I may even need to stock up again come the next sale in June.  I prefer the B&BW Deep Cleansing Anti-bacterial Hand Soaps over any other soap.  I ended up getting eight bottles, so I will list them here and give you the B&BW description.

  • Aqua Blossom- A seaside escape of ocean melon, white lotus and dewy gardenia.
  • Kitchen Lemon- A fresh blend of zesty lemon, sparkling citrus and Italian bergamot.
  • Mediterranean Lemon- Scented with Seaside lemon blended with Kaffir lime and wild verbena leaves.
  • Mandarin Citron- Scented with Provencal lemon and juicy mandarin sprinkled with cyclamen petals.
  • Rain Kissed Leaves- A crisp scent of lush green leaves refreshed by cool summer rain.
  • White Pear and Fig- A cold-weather delight of crisp white pear layered with frosted fig.
  • 2 bottles of Wild Honeysuckle- An alluring blend of bright flowers dancing in spring rain.

There you go, that is my Bath & Body Works haul.  Did you take advantage of the Semi-Annul sale?  If so, let me know what you picked up.  There is still a little bit of time left if you want to shop the sale, but not very much.  I believe that this is the last week, so don’t wait too long if you are going to get anything.  Also, don’t forget to sign up for Ebates if you haven’t already done to get cash back for shopping online.  I have a referral link on the right hand side of the blog page, and a post about Ebates explaining what it is about if you are interested.

Philosophy Haul for Under $5: This is Why I Shop at Ulta

Standard
Philosophy Haul

Philosophy Haul

Today’s post is a little different.  I have a Philosophy haul for you- one that I paid less than $5 for.  Yes, you read that right.  I scored all six Philosophy products pictured above for less than it costs to get a latte.  I will get right to the chase and explain how I did it.  My savings are due to the 20% off coupon that Ulta sent out to platinum members a few weeks ago, and by redeeming my Ulta Rewards points.  I am a point hoarder.  I usually save up my points throughout the year to help me buy Holiday palettes or big ticket items that I really want, but can’t afford.  In the past, I have purchased Lorac, Urban Decay, and Tarte palettes (at least in part) with Ulta points.  Platinum members earn points 25% faster that regular members, and there are often point multiplier offers during the year to help you earn.  This year there weren’t any Holiday items that called out to me, so instead I chose to use my points on a product that I have been wanting for a really long time.

Philosophy Miracle Worker Miraculous Anti-Aging Retinol Eye Repair

Philosophy Miracle Worker Miraculous Anti-Aging Retinol Eye Repair

I have been wanting to get the Philosophy Miracle Worker Miraculous Anti-Aging Retinol Eye Repair for over a year.  Ever since I tried a sample size that I got as a 100 point perk from Sephora, I have been a big fan of this product.  It is just so expensive that it is hard to justify the price.  Miracle Worker has a thick gel-like consistency and feels like silk on the skin.  I’ve had sensitivity to retinol (or retinoid?  Is there a difference or are they the same thing?) in the past, but I didn’t have any issues with Miracle Worker.  I am so excited to have it again.  I think it does a great job of minimizing fine lines around the eyes, which is my biggest aging issue.  I really like this product, and a little goes a long way.  That’s a good thing because full size is $66 for 0.5 oz.  Here is where Ulta rewards helped me out.  First of all, I used the 20% off coupon, which brought it down to $52.80.  Then I cashed in all of my Ulta Rewards points for an additional $50 off.  So I got this $66 bottle of Philosophy Miracle Worker Miraculous Anti-Aging Retinol Eye Repair for $2.80.  But wait, there is more.

5pc Philosophy gift w/ purchase

5pc Philosophy gift w/ purchase

At the time, Ulta was offering this 5pc Philosophy gift with purchase on any Philosophy skincare purchase over $50.  Since redeemed Ulta Rewards points act as payment, not a coupon, my order qualified.  The gift bag included deluxe sample sizes of Purity Made Simple One-Step Facial Cleanser (30 ml), Time in a Bottle Daily Age defying Serum (2 ml), Pure Grace Shampoo, Bath, & Shower Gel (30ml), and Miracle Worker Miraculous Anti-Aging Moisturizer (12 ml).  I am not sure what the total worth of this gift bag is.  The current 4pc Philosophy gift with purchase that is available on the website right now is worth $20, so I’m assuming the 5pc was worth $25.

Including tax, I paid around $3 out of pocket for all of these Philosophy products, worth $91.  This right here is why I prefer Ulta over Sephora.  I love that I can spend my rewards points on anything in the store.  At Sephora, you have to redeem for specific items, and often times I am not interested in those items.  Occasionally they will offer something awesome like the mini Miracle Worker sample that started this whole thing, but I find those to be the rarity.  The last thing I need in my life is another mascara sample, or perfume samples for fragrances that I already know don’t appeal to me.  At Ulta, I can choose to spend my points throughout the year to save on what I would normally buy, or hoard my points for a big ticket item at the end of the year.  Either way, I am choosing what products I spend my points on.  Ulta gives me control, and I really like that.  I can not wait to try out these new Philosophy products, and I am thrilled to get to use Miracle Worker Eye Repair again.  I you have not signed up for Ulta’s rewards program, you are really missing out.  I encourage you to sign up for any rewards program, weather it be at Ulta, Sephora, or any other store.  If you are spending money anyway, you may as well get something back.  Sometimes those rewards are really, really great.

How do you spend your Ulta points?  Do you redeem as you go, or are you a point hoarder like I am?  What are your thoughts on both Ulta’s and Sephora’s Rewards programs?  Let me know in the comments below.  Also, let me know if you have tried Philosophy products and what you thought of them.

How About a Birthday Haul?

Birthday haul

Birthday haul

Hey everyone, here is my birthday haul as requested.  I asked you a couple weeks ago if you would be interested in seeing a haul post for my birthday goodies and several of you said yes, so here it is.  This should go without saying because you all know me by now, but this post isn’t meant to be taken as bragging.  It’s all in the spirit of fun to be shared with other makeup addicts like myself.  I have been very good this year at not buying new makeup and saving money, so I felt that it was time to splurge and explore some higher end brands.  My birthday this year was divisible by five, so my husband and I got a little expansive.  There were several nice dinners, and some very cool non-beauty items, but this post is about the great makeup I received.  Some things were gifted to me, and some were things that I got on shopping trips.  Ulta had some great gifts with purchase, bonus point offers, and a 20% off sale in July.  They also give you 2x the points on all purchases made in your birthday month and a $10 off coupon on anything in the store.  I was able to wrack up quite a few points and will be saving them for any Holiday palettes I may be interested in later this year.  If you aren’t signed up for the rewards program, get to it.  It totally pays off, and it’s free to sign up.  I am going to break this up by brand for the most part.  If you see anything that you want a full review on, just let me know.

BareMinerals Birthday haul

BareMinerals Birthday haul

I will start with BareMinerals.  I have not tried a lot of bareMinerals in the past, but I have fallen in love with their Ready Eye Shadow formula and wanted to experiment with some more products from the brand.  Not wanting to commit to several full size products (and their price tags), I decided to go with these great trial sized items that I found on the Ulta website.  I have found that going to Ulta and Sephora’s websites can give you some cheaper alternatives that are not necessarily available in-store.  All of these products were $15 or less.  Here is what I got:

  • bareMinerals Touch Up To-Go: “This is your ultimate finishing touch for a flawless, shine-free complexion wherever, whenever. Minimize the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles and keep your skin looking fresh with this perfectly portable set. Includes a Baby Buki Brush, so you can bring your beauty with you wherever you go.”  The mini Touch Up Veil is in translucent, and is half the size of the full size product.  The baby brush is a little too small to be effective, but the clear makeup bag that they come in is great and woul fit into a small purse.
  • bareMinerals Double Trouble: “A truly dynamic duo, this lipstick and lipgloss duo provides double the impact with universally flattering colors in rich, satiny formulas, for fabulously fuller looking lips.  The Collection includes Mini Marvelous Moxie Lipgloss in Smooth Talker and Mini Marvelous Moxie Lipstick in Make Your Move.”  I already know that I like the formula for bareMinerals Marvelous Moxie lipstick and lipgloss, and I love the smaller sizes which mean that I may be able to actually get through them.
  • bareMinerals Well-Rested Trio: “This 3-piece makeup collection perks up the complexion for a refreshed look. Enhance the eye area with Well-Rested Eye Brightener Broad Spectrum SPF 20 using the included silky-smooth concealer brush. Highlight the face with Well-Rested Face & Eye Brightener for absolute radiance and to look like you just got a good nights’ sleep.”  I have heard so many good things about Well Rested, that I can’t wait to try these out.

I also received a free Mini Marvelous Moxie Lipgloss in Dare Devil and 5x the points with my purchase.  All of these products (except the free gift) are still available on the Ulta website.

Tarte

Tarte Birthday haul

I have been trying to resist the new Tarte Rainforest After Dark palette, but I really wanted it.  Something about it called to me.  So, when the Tarte Friends and Family sale happened, The Hubs told me to go ahead and get it as one final Birthday gift.  And, since everything was 30% off, I grabbed a couple more items with it.

  • Tarte Rainforest After Dark Limited-edition colored clay eye & cheek palette: “Inspired by the deep orchid hues of the Rainforest at dusk, this palette has everything you need to create sultry, sophisticated looks to take you from day to night. Each pigmented, flattering shade is infused with colored clay, which naturally color-corrects as it helps control oil for longer, truer wear. This next generation ingredient from the mountainous regions of Brazil brightens, evens and soothes skin while the velvety formula glides on and delivers rich color without settling into fine lines or wrinkles.”  It is flat out gorgeous.  I can do a review with swatch pictures, if you want.  The palette is available at both Sephora and Ulta.
  • Amazonian Clay waterproof cream eyeshadow in Shimmering Moss: “This long-lasting cream shadow glides on smooth and forms an impermeable layer that protects against sweat, tears, flaking, and creasing for hours of wear time. Treat delicate eyelids to skinvigorating™ Amazonian clay, carnauba wax, mineral pigments, and vitamins A and E as you impart gorgeous color that can be worn alone or layered under tarte eye shadow powders.”  Shimmering Moss is a beautiful color, and the shadow was already discounted before the F&F sale, so I ended up paying $7 for it.
  • Amazonian Butter Lipstick in Poppy: “Treat lips to a dose of color and moisture with these Amazonian butter lipsticks, infused with precious Amazonian butters to hydrate and smooth lips throughout the day. The luxurious formula glides on smoothly to deliver rich, creamy, natural looking color in a variety of shades that flatter any skin tone. Peppermint oil adds a refreshing hint of mint with each application and helps give lips a fuller, plumped up appearance. Each lipstick features unique, chic, eco-friendly packaging in specially-designed prints.”  I’ve been wanting to try the Tarte Amazonian Lipsticks for a while now, so I went ahead and snagged Poppy, a bright pink-toned red.

I also received a free deluxe sample of the Double Detox Amazonian Clay Exfoliating Facial Mask.  My Tarte order was processed and shipped very quickly.  I was able to use Ebates with it, so I got cash back from the sale event.

Birthday haul

Birthday haul

This final picture is of stuff from both Ulta and Sephora.  You have already seen the Free Birthday gifts from each store, but for a closer look refer back to this post.  My husband, who is awesome, knows me well and gifted these items to me.

  • Fresh Sugar Lip Service Set: “Show your lips some love with these four mini pout protectors that nourish, smooth, protect, and tint in three simple steps.”  This is the only product purchased from Sephora.  Unfortunately, it doesn’t seem to be available on the website, but maybe there are still some sets available in the store.  I became completely hooked on Fresh Sugar Tinted Lip Treatments on my trip to Walt Disney World last year.  I just love the formula, but the full size is so expensive that I wouldn’t buy it for myself.  I love that I was gifted this set though, and am really excited to bust into it.
  • LORAC Pro Palette 2:  “Go PRO with LORAC PRO Palette 2! The sequel to their original, best-selling PRO Palette and created by celebrity makeup artist Carol Shaw, this PRO artistry palette is packed with 8 Shimmer and 8 Matte Eye Shadows in all the cool shades you need to create the hottest looks straight from the Red Carpet. LORAC’s velvety-smooth shadows are infused with soothing botanicals and are ultra-pigmented to perform wet or dry so you can shade, shadow, line and define your eyes, just like a PRO.”  OMG, my husband got me the LORAC Pro 2!!!  I am most excited about this than any of the other products that I got, and I got some really great stuff.  I was on the fence, hemming and hawing about whether or not I should get the Pro 2.  Obviously, I don’t need another neutral palette, but I really wanted it.  I am so happy that he got it for me.  I’ve had it for about three weeks now, and have been using it a lot.  It is so worth it.  I am definitely going to do a review on the Pro 2, because I think it is a really good palette to have.

A free deluxe sample of LORAC Cobra Mascara came with the purchase.  He stole my card and got the Ulta points for it as well. 🙂

That’s it for my haul.  I know that it was a lot, but as I said before, I’ve been really good this year.  I also know that I have some things coming up over the next year or two that will put a kibosh on sprees like this, so I got one last hurrah.  I am certainly set for a while.  If there are any products that you want a closer look at, let me know.  I can swatch and review anything that interested you.

Don’t forget to enter my latest giveaway.  You have until next Thursday 8/14, and I will pick the winner Friday 8/15.
