Derma MD Skincare

Derma MD Skincare

If you have been following my blog for a couple years, you may remember my experimenting with Derma MD skincare.  The brand sent me a ton of products to review, and I had several Derma MD giveaways throughout 2014.  I am a fan of the brand, and the CoQ 10 moisturizer is still one of my favorites.  So, when the good people at Derma MD approached me to review some of their new skincare products, I jumped at the chance.  You can read all about my previous experience with Derma MD and see my review of six products by following the link.  This time around, I’ll be reviewing the new 10% S.L.A.C. Exfoliating Peel Pads and the new Sensitive Pearl Cleanser.  My experience with these products is a little mixed, so let’s start with the Peel Pads.

10% S.L.A.C. Exfoliating Peel Pads

10% S.L.A.C. Exfoliating Peel Pads

The new 10% S.L.A.C. Exfoliating Peel Pads are easy to use, concentrated exfoliating pads that are designed to slough off dead skin cells while working some anti-aging magic.  Formulated with both Salicylic Acid & Lactic Acid, with the addition of both Vitamins A and C, it gently exfoliates without irritation, and is supposed to “brighten,  firm, improve texture, increase collagen synthesis, smooth and protect.” Derma MD claims that it is excellent for all skin types.  I am a fan of salicylic acid exfoliators.  They tend to work pretty well for me.  I actually really like what this product does for my skin, but I can’t use it.  Unfortunately, there is a very strong rosy perfume smell that I can not handle.  It is so strong, and it clings to the skin and my clothes.  I tried using the Peel Pads during the day, but I had to wash my face because I couldn’t stand the smell.  I can use the Peel Pads at night before bed, but I can still smell the powdery rose scent on my bedding and night clothes when I wake up in the morning.  Granted, I am extremely sensitive to scent, especially rose.  It’s possible that someone else might be able to handle the scent better than I can, and maybe even like it.  For me though, the smell ruins an otherwise good product.

Sensitive Pearl Cleanser

Sensitive Pearl Cleanser

My experience with the Derma MD Sensitive Pearl Cleanser was completely different from the Peel Pads.  I love the Sensitive Pearl Cleanser.  This moisturizing cleanser has a silky pearly cream base that feels lovely on the skin.  It fights premature aging with multiple antioxidants, stimulates collagen synthesis and has anti-inflammatory properties.  This cleanser is excellent for dry or sensitive skin.  It feels like you are washing your face with lotion, but it still feels completely cleansed when you are done.  It doesn’t dry my skin out in the slightest and it doesn’t give me that tight, squeaky feeling after I use it.  I would recommend this cleanser to anyone.  It’s great.

For more details on these products, or any of the ones that I previously reviewed, check out Derma MD’s website.  I’ve been checking their Facebook page, and have noticed several promotional sale events and special offers ranging from free gifts with purchase, opportunities to win gift cards, and 20%-50% off discounts.  They also offer a discount just for signing up for their mailing list.  You can find some Derma MD products available on sites like Hautelook, Groupon, and Zulily, which are all great ways to save up to almost 75%.

FTC Disclosure: The products reviewed in this post were provided to me for free by Derma MD for consideration.  This does not guarantee a positive review, and my thoughts on these products are 100% honest.  No other compensation was accepted.

Monthly Favorites (and Fails) for November and December 2015

Monthly Favorites

Monthly Favorites

It’s time for my last Monthly Favorites (and Fails) post of 2015.  You may have noticed that I didn’t do a Favorites post last month.  I just didn’t have enough products to make up a post, so instead of forcing it, I figured that I would combine November and December.  For anyone new to the blog, Monthly Favorites are those products that particularly stood out to me, and ones that I reached for over and over throughout the month.  Fails are products that simply did not work out and I do not recommend, because it is just as important to know what products to avoid as it is to know which ones to get. So these are the products that I have been loving for the last two months.

Michael Todd True Organics Hydration Boost

Michael Todd True Organics Hydration Boost

My number one, can’t get enough of it, holy grail favorite for the month is definitely the Michael Todd True Organics Hydration Boost.  I had been using the Hydration Boost, but had run out in October.  I really noticed the difference in my skin without it, even though I was using the same moisturizer.  I placed a Michael Todd order on Black Friday, and I am thrilled to have the Hydration Boost back.  My skin feels so much more hydrated and healthy with it.  Especially now that winter cold has set in and is trying to dry me out, the Hydration Boost is vital in my skin care regimen.

Bite Beauty Agave Lip Mask

My next skincare type favorite is one that I only had a sample of, so this product photo is from Sephora.  This is the Bite Beauty Agave Lip Mask.  This stuff is amazing!  I have chronically dry lips, and this lip treatment makes a huge difference.  I am going to say right off the bat that this formula is not going to be for everyone.  It is thick and waxy when you apply it, and I definitely had my doubts at first.  Once it warms up on the lips, however, it melts into the skin and provides so much healing moisture that I am a little blown away.  This isn’t a lip balm that you throw in your pocket.  It is definitely an overnight lip treatment mask.  The main ingredients are lanolin, agave nectar, and jojoba oil.  A little does a long way, and even though the tube is only half an ounce, I am sure that it would last for several months of daily use.  It is $26 on Sephora’s website, which is pretty hefty, but it just might be worth the splurge because it is wonderful.

MUA Professional Eyeshadow Palettes

MUA Professional Eyeshadow Palettes

Next up are the MUA Professional Eyeshadow Palettes.  If you haven’t seen my review and swatches of these palettes, be sure to check it out.  I have really been enjoying these MUA palettes.  The shades are lovely, and they have been so much fun to play with.  They are really nice for drugstore palettes.  MUA is only available at CVS here in the States.  There is a good chance that you can score these palettes on sale or with a coupon and I think that they are worth checking out.

LORAC Love, Lust & Lace Matte Eye Shadow Palette

LORAC Love, Lust & Lace Matte Eye Shadow Palette

Because the MUA palettes have no matte shades, I have been pairing them with the LORAC Love, Lust & Lace Matte Eye Shadow Palette.  This was one of the $12 Black Friday palettes that Lorac sells through Ulta every year.  I never got any of the Urban Decay Naked Basics palettes, but this one is the same idea.  There are five matte neutral shades, and this is a great palette to mix in with other palettes that may be missing these essential shades.  I know it is sold out on Ulta’s website, but may still be available at your local Ulta store.  If so, pick it up.

Milani Rose Powder Blush in Romantic Rose

Milani Rose Powder Blush in Romantic Rose

I’ve been reaching for my Milani Rose Powder Blush in Romantic Rose quite a bit.  I reviewed two of these Rose Powder Blushes from Milani over the summer, in case you missed it.  I love this shade.  It is a muted, nude rose shade in a similar color family to Tarte Exposed.  It is a very subtle color, but it looks gorgeous on the skin.  The look is minimal and natural, but beautiful.  And of course, I can’t mention this blush without talking about that beautiful embossed rose.  Even though I have used the blush a lot since I got it, the rose is still going strong.  It is a winner.

Maybelline Master Hi-Light blush in Mauve

Maybelline Master Hi-Light blush in Mauve

You may remember the Maybelline Master Hi-Light blush in Mauve that I was obsessed with last year.  Well I busted it out again, and reminded myself why I loved it so much.  It is such a beautiful shade, and it wears really well.  It is sort of a plum toned rose-gold shade with beautiful shimmer that doesn’t look chunky or glittery.  It gives me a lovely sheen and looks great.  A little goes a really long way, so I’ll have this blush for a long time. You can see my review and swatches of both this blush and one of the bronzers here.

That does it for my favorites, now onto my Fails.  Always keep in mind that my reviews are based on my specific experience with these products, and good or bad, you may have different results.  So, just because I give a product a bad review, it doesn’t necessarily mean that it is a bad product.  It just means that it did not work for me.  And these next two products definitely did not work for me.

e.l.f. Daily Hydration Moisturizer

e.l.f. Daily Hydration Moisturizer

I reviewed the e.l.f. Daily Hydration Moisturizer, and I recommend that you read it because it isn’t necessarily a bad product.  It just didn’t work for me.  The packaging is frustrating, and there are definitely some issues in the formula, mostly that it does not contain SPF and it does have fragrance (though I did like the fresh scent).  I thought that the formula was nice and hydrating and it felt good on the skin.  The moisturizer broke me out, so ultimately I couldn’t use it, but I ended up giving it to a friend who liked it a lot.

Ulta Artistry Eye Shadow Kit

Ulta Artistry Eye Shadow Kit

The biggest dud that I have tried in a while has to be the Ulta Artistry Eye Shadow Kit.  If you read my review, you know that these shadows were terrible.  There were a few decent shades, but overall the palettes lacked pigmentation and the formula varied wildly from shade to shade.  While some of the shimmer shades were nice, other shades were hard and chalky.  The blue toned palette was especially bad.  I did like the green toned palette, but not enough to make the kit worth it.  It was such a disappointment.

That’s it for my Favorites and Fails for November and December.  I hope that you saw something that you liked.  What were some of your favorite items for the month?  Let me know in the comments below.  I am so excited by all of the new items that are releasing for Spring 2016.  I am trying to keep a tight reign on my spending because lord knows that I don’t need more makeup.  But there are some really interesting products popping up in the drugstore, plus all of the spring collections from prestige brands.  What new releases are you most excited for?  Have you gotten anything new for Spring 2016 that you want to tell me about?  Share with me in the comments.

e.l.f. Daily Hydration Moisturizer

e.l.f. Daily Hydration Moisturizer

Today I want to talk about the e.l.f. Daily Hydration Moisturizer.  E.l.f. launched a brand new skincare line earlier this year with four products.  The line has now been expanded to six products, and e.l.f. will be adding more in the future.  I’ll admit, I was pretty skeptical at first.  Super cheap skincare makes me wary, and I wasn’t sure if e.l.f. could pull it off.  The e.l.f. skincare line has gotten some good reviews though, so I thought it was time to give it a try.  Because of my dry skin, I figured the best way to test the waters of e.l.f.’s new skincare line would be to try some moisturizer.   I use Micheal Todd True Organics at night, but I am willing to try different things for daytime.  I picked up the e.l.f. Daily Hydration Moisturizer, not really knowing what to expect.

e.l.f. Daily Hydration Moisturizer

e.l.f. Daily Hydration Moisturizer

Before we talk formula, let’s talk packaging.  I love the overall look of the skincare line.  The light blue shade reminds me of a spa.  I am used to e.l.f.’s cardboard packaging that, while functional isn’t anything special.  They really stepped it up with the skincare line.  The light blue box is plastic with a touch of translucence.  Though obviously it has nothing to do with the products itself, the new style made the product feel more legit somehow.  Unfortunately, I wasn’t a fan of the actual product design.  While I love that the moisturizer comes in an opaque tube with a pump that is ideal for keeping ingredients stable and avoiding contamination, it’s not designed well.  There is no tube attached to the pump, so you have to keep the moisturizer vertical with the pump upside down or else it will stop pumping after a few uses.  The base isn’t quite wide enough, so it keeps trying to tip over and it’s uncomfortable in the hand trying to pump upside down.  E.l.f. may want to consider a re-design.

e.l.f. Daily Hydration Moisturizer

e.l.f. Daily Hydration Moisturizer

Here is what e.l.f. has to say about the Daily Hydration Moisturizer: “This lightweight, lightly scented moisturizer helps hydrate and nourish for glowing, healthy looking skin. Infused with Purified Water and skin-nourishing Jojoba, Aloe, Vitamin E and Cucumber to help soothe and protect the delicate skin area. Rich in antioxidants such as Shea Butter, Grape and Orange.”  There are two flaws in the formula, right off the bat.  First is that the moisturizer does contain fragrance.  Now, it is a light, clean scent that I actually really like, but fragrance is never desirable in skincare.  The second, more glaring flaw is that this daytime moisturizer does not contain any SPF.  Come on e.l.f., you can do better than that.  Other than those issues, I do like the formula.  I don’t think that it is as lightweight as e.l.f. claims.  The formula is actually pretty thick going on, and it melts into the skin leaving a nice level of hydration.  I think it may be too much for someone with oily skin.  Normal and dry skin will enjoy the feeling. I thought that the hydration lasted most of the day and I had no issues applying makeup over it.

e.l.f. Daily Hydration Moisturizer

e.l.f. Daily Hydration Moisturizer

Unfortunately, while I liked the e.l.f. Daily Hydration Moisturizer it ended up breaking me out.  While I don’t have overly sensitive skin, I have had reactions to certain products in the past, so others may not have any breakouts with the e.l.f. Daily Hydration Moisturizer.  For me, though, I am going to have to pass it on.  The moisturizer does have some good points, so I don’t want to call it a dud, but I had enough issues with it that I can’t really recommend it either.  The e.l.f. Daily Hydration Moisturizer is $8, regular price.  I think that considering the price, it has a decent formula, but there aren’t any ingredients that will knock your socks off.  It’s not hard to find comparable skincare at the drugstore and you will definitely find better, though at a higher price point.  If you are still curious and your skin is not oily or sensitive, try to catch it on a sale.

Monthly Favorites July 2015

July 2015 Monthly Favorites

July 2015 Monthly Favorites

It is time for my July Monthly Favorites post.  Can you believe that it is August already?  This year is flying by.  For anyone new to the blog, Monthly Favorites are those products that particularly stood out to me, and ones that I reached for over and over throughout the month.  July was birthday month for me, so I had a very busy month.  I’ve been testing several new products (OMG, I feel so behind on my reviews).  In the midst of that, however, I definitely have some products that I just kept going back to.  So let’s get started.

Michael Todd True Organics Pumpkin Mask

Michael Todd True Organics Pumpkin Mask

I am going to kick off my favorites talking about skincare.  I could rave about the whole line of Michael Todd True Organics products that I have been using, but I am going to limit myself to just two, the first of which is the Pumpkin Mask.  Confession time.  I have been really lax about my skincare for the last several months.  Ever since I got that bad bout of stomach flu followed by the severe cold that knocked me out for the entirety of April and into May, I have been a total slacker skin-wise.  My skin has been suffering from my lack of attention, so my goal for July was to try to get things back on track.  This Pumpkin Mask is exactly what I needed.  The glycolic acid in the mask really helped to get rid of all of the dry flaky patches as well as cleared out my pores, and helped my skin look and feel a lot healthier.  It cleared up any beak outs that I was having.  The best part is that the mask smells so amazing, just like pumpkin pie.  I really love this mask, and recommend it to anyone.

Michael Todd True Organics Intensive Eye Treatment

Michael Todd True Organics Intensive Eye Treatment

The other skincare item that I loved all through July was the Michael Todd True Organics Intensive Eye Treatment.  It’s been a while since I used this product, and I forgot just how great this eye treatment is.  It feels so luxurious.  It is packed with moisture and is silky soft.  I can not say enough good things about the formula.  It makes my eye area feel extremely smooth and hydrated.  Michael Todd makes great products, and this is one of the best in my opinion.

Jersey Shore Cosmetics Mongongo Vanilla Coconut Cream Lip Conditioner

Jersey Shore Cosmetics Mongongo Vanilla Coconut Cream Lip Conditioner

My next favorite was from my July Ipsy bag.  I have been loving this Jersey Shore Cosmetics Mongongo Vanilla Coconut Cream Lip Conditioner.  It smells heavenly, and feels like I am putting coconut oil on my lips.  It leaves them moisturized and lasts pretty well.  At least, it seems to me that I am re-applying less often than usual.  (I tend to go through lip products like crazy, so anything that lasts on me even a little is saying something.)  Well done Ipsy- this was a great product to include in my bag.

Colourpop Super Shock Shadow in Get Lucky

Colourpop Super Shock Shadow in Get Lucky

If you read my ColourPop review from last week, you will know that I have been testing the Super Shock Shadows for a while now.  They were hit and miss for me, but one Colourpop Super Shock Shadow that was a big hit was the shade Get Lucky.  It is molten gold, and looks gorgeous on the lid.  I have been loving it for golden Summer eye looks.  Get Lucky is definitely a shade that is worth getting.  Be sure to check out the review for more details.

TheBalm Meet Matte Nude Palette

TheBalm Meet Matte Nude Palette

Because I have been testing the ColourPop shadows, I have been reaching for TheBalm Meet Matte Nude Palette over and over to balance my looks out.  I’ll be honest, I haven’t gotten a lot of use out of this palette until recently, and that’s a shame.  Meet Matte Nude is a great palette.  It may not look as inspiring as some other matte palettes, which was my initial issue.  But it has been an excellent complimentary palette.  The shadows work really well with other products.  Another bonus is that those wells are huge, so it will take years to get through this palette.  I have been way more inclined to use matte shadows over the last six months or so, and I plan on keeping this palette handy.

NYX Butter Lipstick in Fireball

Finally, I like to wear bright, fun colors in the Summer.  What is better than a bright lip?  Enter NYX Butter Lipstick in Fireball.  This shade is so much fun.  It is a bright, orange-toned coral shade that goes on surprisingly sheer, but quickly builds up for very bold color.  I love the versatility of being able to wear it sheered out or more bold, depending on my mood.  The Butter lipstick formula is really comfortable on the lips.  If you haven’t tried them yet, you really should.

And that wraps up my July Favorites.  I hope that you saw something that you liked and might want to check out for yourself.  I am excited that we are progressing through summer rather quickly.  It is my least favorite time of year, but I love Fall and Winter and can not wait for Fall to arrive.  One exciting thing to look forward to in August though, is that I will be celebrating my 4th Blogiversary.  Crazy, right?  I can’t believe that it has been four years here at BeautyinBudget Blog.  Anyway, that is it for my Favorites.  What have you been loving in the last month?  Let me know in the comments below.

4th of July Haul: Michael Todd True Organics and Milani

Haul time

Hello everyone, it’s haul time.  You have seemed to really like past hauls, so I thought that you might want to see what I purchased over the weekend for the 4th of July sales that were going on.  There were several sales happening, but I was pretty selective in my shopping.  The main thing that I actually needed was skin care, and boy did I take care of that need.  😉  I have a massive haul from Michael Todd True Organics and a much smaller haul from Milani to show you.  So let’s get started.

Michael Todd True Organics

Michael Todd True Organics

I have been obsessively stalking the Michael Todd True Organics facebook page, waiting for a sale.  Finally, on the 4th there was a 30% off flash sale and I pounced on it.  My skin has been changing from dry to more normal and I have always had an issue with large pores and minor acne even when it was bone dry, so I wanted to branch out a little in my choices.  I decided that the best bang for my buck would be to purchase two skincare regimens, which are already discounted.  They were out of the regimen for regular dry skin, so I got the Dry Sensitive Skin Regimen (which I have gotten before and loved) and the Normal/Combination Regimen.

Dry Sensitive Skin Regimen

Dry Sensitive Skin Regimen

Whether you are looking to remove fine lines and wrinkles, reduce dark circles, eliminate puffiness or regenerate skin cells to keep yourself looking your best for years to come, INTENSIVE does it all. 15 ml / .5 fl oz
  • TROPICAL FRUIT SCRUB combination hydrating exfoliant scrub. Naturally fruity refreshing skin treatment that uses the power of Papaya and Pineapple Enzymes as a mild non-irritating exfoliant to remove dead skin, impurities and toxins without irritation caused by scrubbing. 96% Organic. Certified Vegan. 100 ml / 3.4 fl oz

So, I know have an army of skincare with only the Intensive Organic Cream Eye Treatment and the Tropical Fruit Scrub repeated.  I am thrilled to have more of the eye treatment.  The more the better in that department.  I am less interested in the Tropical Fruit Scrub, and don’t really need two of those, but overall I think that getting both regimens was a good choice for my skin needs.  I know that this looks like a lot, and it is, but with the discounts they were down to basically $10 each, a real steal.

Milani haul

Milani haul

Since I went so big on my skincare purchase, I kept my makeup purchases small and only shopped the Milani sale that I told you about here on the blog.  I have been meaning to try out the Bella Eyes Gel Powder Eyeshadows that came out last year, but hadn’t gotten around to them.  I also was quite interested in the Milani Power Lip Gloss Stains.  Here is what I purchased:

  • Bella Eyes Gel Powder Eyeshadow in Bella Champagne, Bella Purple, Bella Khaki, and Bella Emerald
  • Anti-Feathering Lip Liner
  • Power Lip Lasting Gloss Stains in Pink Lemonade and Creamy Cafe
  • Color Statement Nail Lacquer in Mint Crush- Milani threw in a free nail polish with my order, and I was able to pick the shade.

That is it for my haul.  I am very impressed with both companies for getting my order to me so quickly, especially since shipping was free for both.  I ordered on Saturday the 4th, and they were both at my door today, Wednesday the 8th.  Did you shop the 4th of July sales over the weekend?  If so, I’d love to know what you got in the comments below.

Monthly Favorites and Fails, April 2015

Monthly Favorites April 2015

Monthly Favorites April 2015

It’s time for my April 2015 Monthly Favorites and Fails.  Didn’t I just do one of these?  (haha)  For anyone new to the blog, Monthly Favorites are those products that particularly stood out to me, and ones that I reached for over and over throughout the month.  Fails are products that simply did not work out and I do not recommend, because it is just as important to know what products to avoid as it is to know which ones to get.  April was a horrible month for me.  I was sick for 60-70% of the month.  First I had a monster stomach flu that knocked me out for the first half of the month.  Then, once I recovered from that, my husband got a head cold that he unfortunately passed on to me and my weakened immune system.  I didn’t leave my house that much in April, so I didn’t wear a ton of makeup.  When I was sick as a dog with stomach flu I pretty much ignored my skin care regimen, so the second half of the months was spent trying to repair the damage.  All of this means that my Favorites are a little different than normal.

First Aid Beauty Ultra Repair Cream

First Aid Beauty Ultra Repair Cream

The one thing that I did manage to use all month long, even when I was at my sickest, was moisturizer.  The one that I chose First Aid Beauty Ultra Repair Cream.  You can see a full review of the Ultra Repair Cream as well as some other FAB products here.  If you have dry skin, First Aid Beauty Ultra Repair Cream is amazing.  I can put this on at night and wake up with it still on and moisturizing my face almost as well as when freshly applied.  Though it isn’t the best cream for anti-aging, and it doesn’t have a ton of super charged ingredients, it moisturizes like no other and does a great job of healing dry and flaky skin.  I use it on my eyes as well, and my skin feels supple and smooth.  Though First Aid Beauty Ultra Repair Cream isn’t my all-time favorite moisturizer, it was a life saver for me all through April and I do recommend it for those with dry skin issues.

Perfectly Pure Hyaluronic Acid Serum

Perfectly Pure Hyaluronic Acid Serum

One I got well enough to start caring about my skin again, I turned to Perfectly Pure Hyaluronic Acid Serum.  My biggest skin care issue this month was dry, dull, lifeless skin and this Hyaluronic Acid Serum did the trick to restore it.  Hyaluronic Acid is wonderful for the skin, especially in terms of moisture and younger looking skin.  Hyaluronic Acid is a substance that is naturally found within our bodies.  It is a protein that is found in the deeper layers of our skin.  As we age, our skin’s natural Hyaluronic Acid content can decrease, so the serum helps bring back vibrancy and radiance.  Perfectly Pure Hyaluronic Acid Serum is a vegetarian product that is free of things like Parabens, Petroleum, SLS, Artificial Color and Fragrance.  Full transparency: this product was sent to me for free, but regardless, it is a great product.

Derma MD Soy Moisturizer Healing Intense Creme

Derma MD Soy Moisturizer Healing Intense Creme

Not only did my face need some TLC, but so did my body.  I turned to my Derma MD Soy Moisturizer Healing Intense Creme.  I have been taking a break from Derma MD skin care lately, but I have to say that I really like this Soy Moisturizer a lot.  It is so lightweight and dries down so quickly that you wouldn’t think that it would be all that moisturizing.  But oh my gosh, it is so wonderful for the skin.  It really is healing and feels silky soft.  I absolutely recommend using it, especially if you have skin issues like eczema or psoriasis.  But even if you don’t have those specific issues, it is great on elbows and knees, or any other dry spots.  Full transparency: this product was also sent to me for free.  Derma MD can be a little pricey if you order directly from them, but they are frequently featured on sites like Rue La La and Hautelook, so you can get their products for a fraction of the cost.

Jesse's Girl Pure Pigment Eye Dust in Sunlit Cactus

Jesse’s Girl Pure Pigment Eye Dust in Sunlit Cactus

I did have a couple of makeup favorites this month, and one of them is a rediscovered product.  This is Jesse’s Girl Pure Pigment Eye Dust in Sunlit Cactus.  I don’t even remember how long I have had it in my collection.  I don’t know about you, but I tend to get caught up in my palettes (Naked 2, Lorac Pro, Wet n Wild palettes, etc.) and my single shadows get neglected.  But that is a real shame.  Just LOOK at Sunlit cactus.  It is so gorgeous.  It shifts from fiery orange, to vibrant gold, to fairy green.  It is magical.  I know that some Rite-Aids carry Jesse’s Girl Pure Pigment Eye Dust, but if you can’t find it, Sunlit Cactus is available in the Jesse’s Girl website.

Fresh Sugar Tinted Lip Treatment in Honey

Fresh Sugar Tinted Lip Treatment in Honey

And my final Favorite for April is Fresh Sugar Tinted Lip Treatment in Honey.  I wasn’t in the mood to do much of anything with my lips this month, and Honey fit the bill for no fuss no muss.  You all know by now how much I love Fresh Sugar Tinted Lip Treatments.  They are one of my favorite lip products on the market, and the only complaint I have for them is their ridiculous price.  Honey came in a holiday set.  It is a sheer warm nude.  The formula is moisturizing and truly lovely.

Now onto this month’s Fails.  Always keep in mind that my reviews are based on my specific experience with these products, and good or bad, you may have different results.  So, just because I give a product a bad review, it doesn’t necessarily mean that it is a bad product.  It just means that it did not work for me.

Perfectly Pure Rose & Witch Hazel Toner

Perfectly Pure Rose & Witch Hazel Toner

Along with the Hyaluronic Acid Serum, I also received  Perfectly Pure Rose & Witch Hazel Toner for free.  Unfortunately, this did not work for me.  The formula isn’t bad, and it is just as natural and free from harmful products as the Hyaluronic Acid Serum, which is great.  But I could not stand the smell.  It smell like roses, and not good roses.  Grandma’s attic roses.  It is so gross.  The smell lingers on the skin, even when I use other products with it, all I can smell is roses and moth balls.  I used the toner three times and then gave up.  I just couldn’t handle it.  Big fail!

The final product that I want to talk about is another Derma MD product.  I should have known that this was going to be a fail before I even tried it.  This is the Derma MD Glamur LIP plumpers Trio in Hot & Sexy.  I don’t like lip plumpers.  I don’t like products with a minty tingle, or any tingle for that matter.  I just got seduced by Derma MD’s excellent skin care, so when they offered to send them to me I thought “why not”.  Well, I’ll tell you why.  Holy crap those things sting!  No.  Nope.  No thank you.  The shades are beautiful and pigmented, but I couldn’t keep them on my lips for more than a minute.  I’m actually a little surprised that Derma MD even offers lip plumpers because they are so bad for your lips.  Anyway, in my book lip plumpers are bad news and total fails.

And that is it for my Favorites and Fails for April.  I hope that you saw something that you liked.  I am hoping that May will bring me much better health.  I will be traveling back to North Carolina next week, so I need to be healthy for my trip.  Which reminds me, posting may be a little spotty next week.  I am hoping to have a couple guest posts up.  Fingers crossed.  I hope that April has treated you well, and that you are enjoying springtime.
