Christmas Wonderland Manicure

Check out this adorable Christmas Wonderland Manicure I did using Chevron Striping Tape from the Born Pretty Store.  I love it!  I was really excited to bust out my holiday nail stickers.  I definitely want to do more manicures with them while I have the chance.  I was also really excited to use this new chevron striping tape.  I have used striping tape before, but I have never seen it in chevron pattern.  I knew that I had to try it immediately, and the Born Pretty Store was kind enough to send it to me for review.

The tape has a thin chevron line running through the center, so it separates into three parts.  I think that’s great because it make the tape even more versatile with the different designs that you can accomplish.  I chose the black shade because I thought that I would be most likely to use that shade as a decorative nail sticker as well as a striping tape.  Born Pretty also offers the tape in blue, white, red, silver, and gold.  The adhesive is really sticky, so I got a good seal on the nail and had no issues with polish leaking under the tape.  I’m not going to lie, using the tape can be time consuming, depending on how complicated your design is.  However, with practice, I am sure you can cut down on the time it takes just by familiarity with using the product.  Striping tapes are easier to use than they look, and even a beginner can accomplish some really complicated looking designs.

For my Christmas Wonderland Manicure I laid out the striping tape on my thumb, index finger, and little finger in the pattern that I pictured above on my naked nail.  I used Wet ‘n’ Wild Megalast in I Red a Good Book for the base color and SinfulColors Snow Me White for the stripes On my middle two fingers I used Snow Globe from China Glaze to make it look like it was snowing.  Then I flipped the larger edge of the striping tape upside down and used Snow Me White for the fallen snow.  I added a couple nail stickers that I bought last year and topped everything with Seche Vite.  I love how it came out.  The BPS Chevron Striping Tape is currently on sale for $1.47 a roll, and I highly recommend it.

You can see the other BPS reviews I have done by clicking on the Born Pretty Store link in the “Categories” section on the right hand side of the blog.  As I’ve mentioned in previous reviews, the Born Pretty Store is located in China, so shipping will take a while.  It is normal for orders to take 2-4 weeks to ship to the US, and in my experience, I have gotten most of my orders within 2-3weeks.  You should still plan ahead if you are ordering something time sensitive like holiday items and order them early.  Orders ship within 24 hours.  Check out the BPS website bornprettstore.com, or their facebook page for more details.  For 10% off any regular priced items from the website, use coupon code BBBK31.

Stamped Holiday and Winter Nails from BPS

Christmas Santa Design Nail Art Stamp Template

Christmas Santa Design Nail Art Stamp Template

The Born Pretty Store sent me a lovely little Christmas themed stamping plate for review, and I have it today to show you.  I know that it may seem a little early, but I wanted to get this review of the Christmas Santa Design Nail Art Stamp Template up so that you have the chance to order it in time to use it before Christmas.  I really like the designs on this plate, and I think that you will too.  The best part is that the designs are great, not just for Christmas, but the whole winter season as well.  Keep reading to see what I mean.

The first thing that jumps out at you when you look at this plate might be the Santa, or possibly the stockings or candy cane.  There are definitely several Christmas designs on the plate.  To get this look, I used Wet n Wild Megalast Nail Color in I Red a Good Book for the base color, then stamped with Sinful Colors Snow Me White and BPS black stamping polish.  My accent nail is China Glaze Ultamate Holiday with China Glaze Holly-Day for stamping.  I thought the stamping plate was very easy to use.  The stamps themselves applied pretty well with clear images and no real trouble.  The only issue I had was with the Christmas tree because Holly-Day wasn’t opaque enough to stand out over the glitter.  I stamped another layer over the first tree and was mostly able to line it up.  If it looks a little blurry, that’s why- it had nothing to do with the stamp itself.

If you are not familiar with nail stamping, here is a quick rundown of how it works.  Apply polish to the design of your choice.  Use a scraper or old gift card to remove excess polish from the plate.  Press the stamper (not included) onto the selected image to pick up the pattern.  Working quickly, transfer the design onto your fingernail by gently pressing the stamp onto one side of your nail and using a single rolling motion to apply the design.  It looks a lot more complicated than it is, and once you get the hang of it can be a lot of fun to experiment with different polishes and patterns.  Here is a completely different look using the same stamping plate.

Winter Snow Themed Manicure

Winter Snow Themed Manicure

As I said before, the Christmas Santa Design Nail Art Stamp Template can be used beyond Christmas.  This is a winter snow themed mani that would be perfect for January.  I was a little concerned with how the house would stamp since the lines are so fine, but it stamped perfectly on the first try.  To get this look I used Zoya Nail Polish in Neve for the base color, then stamped with Sinful Colors Snow Me White.  If you don’t celebrate Christmas, or don’t go for traditional red Santa type designs, this plate is still a good option for you.  If you look at the plate, you will see that there is even a cute little double bell design that would be perfect for a wedding.  There are 14 designs total on the plate, and the possibilities are endless.

The Christmas Santa Design Nail Art Stamp Template (QA19) is priced at $2.99 on the BPS website.  Just click on the link to find it.  Their prices are usually pretty good.  As I’ve mentioned in previous reviews, the Born Pretty Store is located in China, so shipping will take a while.  That is especially true right now because of some hold ups with customs.  Orders can take even longer that the typical 2-3 weeks, possibly as much as 5 weeks or more, so plan early.  If you want to order Holiday nail products from Born Pretty, I would do it as soon as possible.  On the upside, shipping is free worldwide with no minimum purchase amount, and orders ship within 24 hours.  Check out their website bornprettstore.com, or facebook page for more details.  For 10% off any regular priced items from the website, use coupon code BBBK31.  I am so pleased that Born Pretty sent this plate to me.  I will definitely be using it all through the Holiday season.

Red and Gold Holiday Quickie

I haven’t been posting NOTD posts lately because my nails haven’t been in the best shape.  I’ve been having a lot of issues with hangnails and the nails on my index fingers keep breaking.  But, I did want to get up some cute Christmasy combinations this month, so please excuse my somewhat ragged nails.

This is one coat each of Wet n Wild Megalast Salon Nail Color in I Red a Good Book topped with Essie As Gold as It Gets Let me repeat that, this red is only one coat.  Wet n Wild Megalast polishes are awesome, and if you haven’t tried them yet, you really should.  They come in a decent range of shades, and are super cheap.  (Yay!)  I hardly ever wear red nails, but I do love this combo for Christmas.
