Spring 2015

I stole my husband’s iPad, and went off to CVS yesterday to see what is new in the drugstore for Spring 2015.  Boy howdy, are there a lot of new products to play with!  So many, in fact, that I am going to have to break them up into a couple different posts, as not to be completely overwhelming.  So, today’s post will focus on Maybelline and CoverGirl.  Stay tuned for subsequent posts showing you even more new displays featuring Spring 2015 releases from your favorite drugstore brands.

Maybelline Spring 2015 for Eyes

Maybelline Spring 2015 for Eyes

Fist up from Maybelline is a large display that shows their new Spring line for the eyes.  The new products contained in this display are:

  • Maybelline Brow Drama Tinted Brow Gel
  • Maybelline Brow Precise Pencils for shaping and defining brows
  • Maybelline Master Graphic Eyeliner
  • Maybelline Lash Sensational Mascara
  • Maybelline Color Molten Cream Powder Shadow

I am interested to see how the Master Graphic Eyeliner works out, which is a chubby felt liner with a slanted point like a marker.  I hope that is isn’t too thick for a precise line.  The Lash Sensational Mascara has a “full fan effect” thanks to the curved brush head that has long bristles on one side and short bristles on the other.  It is supposed to “reveal layers and layers” of lashes.  I really liked the Mabelline Rocket mascara, so I may give Lash Sensational a try.

Maybelline EyeStudio Color Molten Cream Powder Eyeshadow

Maybelline EyeStudio Color Molten Cream Powder Eyeshadow

Here is a closer look at the Maybelline EyeStudio Color Molten Cream Powder Eyeshadow. There are eight shades in this new line.  Each duo is supposed to be “a lustrous, dimensional cream shadow that melts to a new molten luster.”  They look beautiful, and I can’t wait to see how they perform.  The eight shades in this line are:

  • 300 Nude Rush
  • 301 Taupe Craze
  • 302 Endless Mocha
  • 303 Midnight
  • 304 Sapphire Mist
  • 305 Plum Fusion
  • 306 Rose Haze
  • 307 Teal Twist
Maybelline Master prime and Master Concealer

Maybelline Master prime and Master Concealer

The next display, which you can see has been pretty picked over, contains two new products from Maybelline FaceStudio.  These are the Master Prime face primer and the Master Conceal camouflaging concealer.  There are three shades of Master Prime available: 100 Blur + Smooth, 200 Blur + Redness Control (not pictured), and 300 Blur + Illuminate.  Oddly, the 300 Blur + Illuminate shade is the only one of these primers that also has SPF 30.  All three are supposed to “blur away your skin concerns.”  The Master Conceal is supposed to be a full coverage camouflaging concealer to cover any issues, yet it also claims to be light weight.  There are five shades of Master Conceal, ranging from Fair to Medium/Deep.  It should be noted that the “Fair” shade has pink/peach undertones rather than yellow or beige undertones.  I am very curious about both of these products.

CoverGirl Spring 2015

CoverGirl Spring 2015

This gigantic Spring collection from CoverGirl has new items for lips, face, and eyes.  Let’s jump in with the new foundation, the new CoverGirl Ultra Smooth Hair Smoothing Foundation + Applicator.  I really don’t know what to say about this products, so instead I’ll just give you all the claims straight from CoverGirl.  “Smooth is sexy and always in style.  Smooth-looking skin starts with even tone and texture, and although nobody particularly likes to admit to imperfections such as redness, blemishes and even fine facial hair, everyone loves the appearance of gorgeous skin.  Infused with Olay smoothing serum in a silky base to soften the look of skin and fine facial hair for easy lay-down.  Optical concealers camouflage, perfect for eliminating redness and covering imperfections, Smoothing polymer holds the look in place.  Unlike a sponge, the applicator won’t soak up foundation – it easily comes off and smoothes right onto the skin – plus, you end up using less product.

Moving on to eyes, in this display we see:

  • CoverGirl Full Lash Bloom Mascara- Soft, full lashes that are never stiff or brittle. New petal shaped brush and soft, mousse formula, with natural beeswax, brings out every lash.
  • CoverGirl Bombshell Intensity Liner- Expert precision application for a little or lot of sexy. With the smooth glide formula and tapered tip, easily create your own dramatic look for intensity that lasts all night. Longwear liner for 24 hours. Super sexy effects for eyes.
  • CoverGirl Bombshell Pow-der Brow + Liner- Cover Girl Bombshell POW-der Brow & Liner – Soft powder adheres to brows and defines eyes. 2-in-1 brow & liner powder.
  • CoverGirl Eyeshadow Quads- Cover Girl Eyeshadow Quads have pure luminous colors that are made to be played with. Quads of luminous color designed to be as easy as 1, 2, 3, 4  all-over, lid, crease, and liner. Enriched with skin conditioners for smooth, even application. Subtle to dramatic in seconds with buildable rich color pigments.  Three new shades.

Finally, for lips we have the new Covergirl Colorlicious Lipstick.  These are replacing the now discontinued CoverGirl Lip Perfection Lipsticks.  There is a large range of shades broken up into Rich Reds, Luscious Pinks, Smooth Nudes, and Yummy Plums.  This deliciously rich lipstick is infused with shea butter for lasting color and comes in 36 shades you can’t help but crave.

CoverGirl Lip Lava lipgloss

CoverGirl Lip Lava lipgloss

Speaking of lips, also from CoverGirl are these new Lip Lava lip glosses.  “Bold color, lacquer shine. Rich color of a lipstick, high shine of a gloss. Highly pigmented colors.”  There are nine high shimmer shades in the Lip Lava line:

  • Lava Luster
  • Lychee Lava
  • Mango Lava
  • Live, Love, Lava
  • Ooh La Lava
  • Look it’s Lava
  • Lava-nder
  • Muava Lava
  • Lava Glow

These glosses are intense, fun colors that are extremely eye catching and very cute.  There are also three new shades of Outlast Stay Brilliant Nail Gloss.  Sorry, I didn’t catch the shade names, but they are brilliant, shimmering jewel tones.  Very pretty,

And that is it for Maybelline and CoverGirl.  Did you see any products that you want to try, or have you already gotten some of the products mentioned?  Let me know in the comments below.  I’d love to hear your thoughts.  Be sure to stay tuned for more new items from the drugstore over the next few days.  I still have Physicians Formula, Rimmel, L’Oreal, and more to come, so keep watching this space.

Even More New Products for Spring 2014

Standard

I was out and about this weekend and spotted even more new and exciting displays full of products for Spring 2014.  Most of these pics came from Walgreens, but there are a couple from Ulta as well.  I have a lot to cover in this post, so I am going to jump right into it.

Revlon by Marchesa

Revlon by Marchesa

First up is this really cool display of tools designed by Marchesa.  “We started by looking at all the various beauty tools that Revlon makes. We knew that we wanted to bring an elegant femininity to this collection and ultimately decided that the three designs should be inspired by three dresses from our Spring/Summer 2014 runway show. We think the result is quite romantic with the three intricate lace patterns” says Georgina Chapman and Keren Craig, Marchesa co-founders.  Revlon is “bringing the runway to your fingertips” by offering designer tools such as nail files, tweezers, compacts, etc.  The products are really beautiful.

Jergens BB Body Perfecting Cream

Jergens BB Body Perfecting Cream

With BB creams for face and hair, is it any wonder that there is one for body now?  Jergens says of the BB Body Perfecting Cream: Jergens BB Body Perfecting Skin Cream delivers flawless-looking skin with 5 visible benefits in just 5 days. This revolutionary body lotion goes on sheer, dries quickly, and works like a moisturizer to visibly improve your skin with every use.  Hydrates, illuminates, evens, firms, and corrects.  BB Body Cream delivers varying benefits depending on your skin tone. It goes on sheer and then adjusts differently to a range of shades.  There are two shades, one for all light skin tones, and one for medium-deep skin tones.

Physicians Formula Nude Wear Nude Glow Makeup Collection

Physicians Formula Nude Wear Nude Glow Makeup Collection

Sorry for the slightly blurry pic, but this is Physicians Formula Nude Wear Nude Glow Makeup Collection.  The display contains boxed Nude Wear powder, blush, and bronzer, as well as the Physicians Formula Nude Wear Touch of Glow liquid highlighter and touch up pen.  The packaging is so freakin’ adorable I want to buy everything.  I won’t, but it’s so cute.

Maybelline Master-Glaze and Master-Light

Maybelline Master Glaze and Master Hi-Light

Some fun new cheek products from Maybelline are the Master Glaze Blush Sticks and the Master Hi-Light Mosaic Highlighting Blushes.  The Master Glaze Blush Sticks described by Ulta as: “Face Studio Master Glaze Glisten Blush Stick makes cheeks go dewy and gently glazed with sheer blush color. Liquid shimmer pearls plus shea butter glide provide blendable blush color and smooth, even application.”   The reviews say that these are extremely pigmented and long-lasting.  As far as the Master Hi-Light Mosaic Highlighting Blushes: “Light diffusing Face Studio Master Hi-Light blush and bronzer formulas have an expert balance of shade and shimmer illuminator for natural glow. Skin goes soft lit with zero glitz.”  They are really beautiful and very tempting.

Maybelline Baby Skin Instant Pore Eraser

Maybelline Baby Skin Instant Pore Eraser

Also from Maybelline is the new Baby Skin Instant Pore Eraser.  The transparent gel formula smooths skin and blurs pores for a refined appearance without clogging pores.  Baby Skin is free of Cyclopentasiloxane so it’s not going to be an exact dupe for primers like Smashbox Photo Finish, but it is probably very similar.  This primer has been very popular in other countries, and many people are thrilled that it has finally landed in the US.

CoverGirl Bombshell Volume Mascara

CoverGirl Bombshell Volume Mascara and Bombshell Intensity Liner

CoverGirl released a ton of products for Spring 2014, and here is a small display of a couple more.  This is the Bombshell Volume Mascara and Bombshell Intensity Liner.  The dual ended mascara claims to make lashes ten times more noticeable.  I’m a big fan of lashblast, so this one may be worth a try, but it is gigantic, so it may be difficult to wield.  The Bombshell liner claims to give 24 hours of “sexy, liquid intensity”.  (what does that even mean?)  It looks like it is a marker pen style of liquid liner from what I can tell.

CoverGirl True Blend Foundation

CoverGirl TrueBlend Foundation

Also from CoverGirl is the new TrueBlend Foundation shade match system.  (This display also features the FixSticks and True Match products that I showed you earlier this month.)  CG True Blend got a major overhaul.  Many, many moons ago (pre-2008) I used TrueBlend, but when they changed the formula I hated it and never used CG foundations again until this past year when CG Outlast Stay Fabulous came out.  Now they changed TrueBlend again and I am interested.  I’m not 100% sure that CG upgraded the formula, but I think that they have, and they certainly changed everything else.  There are 21 shades to choose from in a wide variety of light and dark shades.  CG breaks the shades down into light, medium and dark ranges, with 7 shades per range.  There is a good chance that you could find a match with so many choices.  After so much success with CG Outlast Stay Fabulous, I definitely want to give the new TrueBlend a try.

L'Oreal True Match Mineral Powder

L’Oreal True Match Mineral Powder

I spotted L’Oreal True Match Mineral Powder at Ulta.  L’Oreal True Match Mineral offers 16 hours of oil-free, shine-free wear time.  To be honest, I can’t really see how this product differs from the original True Match Powder, which is already really good.  If anyone can offer any insight on this product let us all know in the comments below.

L'Oreal Extraordinaire Lip Color

L’Oreal Extraordinaire Lip Color

L’Oreal Extraordinaire Lip Colors are new hybrid liquid lipsticks in a variety of 16 shades.  They are similar to the Shine stains that L’Oeal released last year, but a little thicker or more opaque and without the staining effect.  This is L’Oreal’s answer to the Maybelline Elixers (which is what I thought was Maybeline’s answer to L’Oreal’s Shine Stains).  At any rate, if you are a liquid lipstick lover, then this is your heyday.

Wow, that was a lot of products to go over.  There are so many new products out that it’s tough to keep up, so be sure to keep your eyes open when in the drugstore because I am sure that there are even more displays that I haven’t seen yet.  Stay tuned because I am also going to show you the many new displays that I found of NYX products.  That’s right, NYX has so many new releases that I need an entire post of just NYX to show it all to you.  I’ll be getting that one up as soon as I can.  In the meantime, happy shopping!
