Ipsy May 2016

I received that big pink envelope in the mail that can only mean one thing- it’s Ipsy time again!  Yay!  For those who are new to the blog and don’t know, Ipsy is a beauty subscription service.  For $10 a month (plus tax in some states), you will receive a makeup bag containing 4-5 deluxe beauty samples.  You often receive full size products, and the overall value of each bag will vary from month to month, but it is always well over the $10 subscription fee.  The theme for May’s bag is Destination Chic: “Got a case of wanderlust? Grab your girl gang and hit the road with these must-haves to to keep you flawless on the fly.”  let’s take a look.

Ipsy

Ipsy

The grand total worth of my May 2016 bag is $54.50.  I am actually really happy with my bag, and I didn’t expect to be.  When I first saw my items, I wasn’t disappointed, but I also wasn’t thrilled.  But after getting a chance to play with some of the prodcuts, I am a lot more impressed.  The Pacifica trio looks rather ho-hum, but when I swatched the shadows, I loved them.  The The Organic Pharmacy Antioxidant Lip Balm is really nice.  I would never pay full price for it, but I am very happy to have it.  I am using a sample of Smashbox Full Exposure mascara right now, so I’m happy to try the new X-rated mascara.  I think the Hydrating mask will be fun to play with.  I wish the Neutrogena Color Stick was in a different shade because it is pretty much exactly my natural lip color, but I do like the formula.  Overall, good job, Ipsy.  If you still haven’t signed up for Ipsy, and would like to get your own Ipsy bag, go ahead and click on this referral link or click on the link under the “Check this out” heading on the right hand side of the page.  You can click on the “Ipsy” tag under the category section to see my past Ipsy bags for a better idea of what you can expect.  If you are already a subscriber, what did you think of your May 2016 Ipsy bag?  Did we get the same things or did you get different items?  Were you happy, disappointed, or ambivalent?  Let me know in the comments below.

Monthly Favorites and Fails, May 2015

Monthly Favorites

Monthly Favorites

With June quickly approaching, I have my Monthly Favorites and Fails for May ready for you today.  For anyone new to the blog, Monthly Favorites are those products that particularly stood out to me, and ones that I reached for over and over throughout the month.  Fails are products that simply did not work out and I do not recommend, because it is just as important to know what products to avoid as it is to know which ones to get.  May was a much better month for me than April (otherwise known as that time I came down with the Plague).  Though was still dealing with sickness for the first week or so of May, I felt much better and much more myself during the rest of the month.  I also did some traveling in May, and my Favorites reflect the items that I took with me on that trip and just kept using.  So let’s get into it.

Beauty Without Cruelty A.H.A. 3% Facial Cleanser

Beauty Without Cruelty A.H.A. 3% Facial Cleanser

I received this Beauty Without Cruelty AHA Facial Cleanser in my December Ipsy bag.  I didn’t use it right away because it claims to be designed for normal to oily skin and my skin is dry.  However, it was nice and compact, and I didn’t have any other cleansers that would fit in my travel bag, so I decided to bring it with me to North Carolina.  I was pleasantly surprised by how much I enjoyed it.  It cleansed my skin thoroughly without making it feel stripped or tight.  The formula will be problematic for some because of the inclusions of aroma-therapy essential oils.  They did not seem to bother my skin, and the scent is very subtle and not bothersome at all.  Beauty Without Cruelty AHA Facial Cleanser is not going to become one of my go-to products, but I am glad that I got the sample from Ipsy because I have really enjoyed it this month.

Maybelline Master Conceal Camouflaging Concealer

Maybelline Master Conceal Camouflaging Concealer

My next Favorite for May is the Maybelline Master Conceal Camouflaging Concealer.  I reviewed this concealer back in February and said that I really liked it.  I stand by that assessment.  Maybelline Master Conceal Camouflaging Concealer goes on so smoothly, doesn’t look cakey in the slightest, and I do not have issues with creasing or settling into fine lines around my eyes.  At the same time, it has really great staying power, especially if you set it with a light powder.  It is a great concealer, and you should definitely try it out.  I have it in the shade Light.

L'Oreal Pro Matte Powder

L’Oreal Infallible Pro Matte Powder

I ran out of my beloved Revlon Nearly Naked Powder (so sad) and have been using this L’Oreal Infallible Pro Matte Powder instead.  It is a completely different formula than Nearly Naked, but I have been enjoying it.  It is very finely milled, and looks good on the skin.  The Infallible Pro Matte Powder has some pretty decent coverage on its own.  Though it is a setting powder and not a powder foundation, it does have some of the same qualities that a powder foundation has.  If you have good skin, you can get away with just using Infallible Pro Matte Powder.  I am not that lucky.  I like the Infallible Pro Matte Powder a lot, but I do have to be careful to use a light hand because it goes from light and airy to overly powdery rather quickly.  I do think that it is a good option, and have been using it a lot all through May.

Wet n Wild Drinking a Glass of Shine

Wet n Wild Drinking a Glass of Shine

A product that I have been using so much that I couldn’t not include it is the Wet n Wild Drinking a Glass of Shine palette (also known as I (Heart) Matte palette).  I usually try not to include limited edition items in my favorites because I want to make sure you can get your hands on it if you see a product you like, so I apologize.  Because I was traveling I needed something compact that I could do some quick and easy looks with that could go with any outfit.  I have been loving applying the creamy browbone shade all over the eye first, and then using the peach shade liberally in the crease.  I then deepen the crease with the brown shade using a small pencil brush, and use the black shadow for liner.  I have probably worn that simple eye look 60% of the time this month.  It was so easy that I didn’t need to think about it, and it looks beautiful.  You do not need this palette to accomplish the look.  Any collection of similar matte shades (and there are many) will do the trick, but this is the product that I have been using and I love it.

Coastal Scents Go Palette in Beijing

Coastal Scents Go Palette in Beijing

When I wasn’t using the Wet n Wild palette, I went for the Coastal Scents Go Palette in Beijing.  The pinks and mauves in this palette were exactly what I wanted for some sweet and romantic pops of color.  I used to avoid pinks and purples but over the last few years I have seen the error of my ways and now I love them.  I know that I have talked about how great Coastal Scents is and how much I enjoy their shadows.  The Coastal Scents shadows are pigmented and smooth, and they are so affordable.  The Go palettes are a great bargain, especially because Coastal Scents often offers them in a bundle sale.

Milani Baked Blush in Rose D’Oro

Milani Baked Blush in Rose D’Oro

For blush this month, I pulled out an oldie but a goody, the Milani Baked Blush in Rose D’Oro.  You’ve seen it before, you know what it is.  It has been too long since I used Rose D’Oro, and I almost forgot how much I truly love this blush.  Once I pulled it out again, however, I haven’t been able to put it down.  Just look at it!  It is a rosy peach shade with gold veining throughout.  The gorgous shimmer means that you can skip a separate highlighter.  It can be sheered out for a soft glowy flush, or layered for intense color.  It looks amazing on the cheeks.  Rose D’Oro is the perfect shade for spring and summer, and I am not putting it back in my drawer.  I am going to be wearing the heck out of it over the next few months.

Neutrogena Revitalizing Lip Balm in Fresh Plum

Neutrogena Revitalizing Lip Balm in Fresh Plum

A new (to me) product that I’ve been enjoying this month has been the Neutrogena Revitalizing Lip Balm in Fresh Plum.  I have been going for a barely there lip all month, and when I am not wearing my Fresh Sugar Tinted Lip Treatments, I have been wearing this.  I have one word to describe the Neutrogena Revitalizing Lip Balm- comfortable.  You all know how obsessed I am with the Nivea Kiss of Milk and Honey and Nivea Kiss of Olive Oil & Lemon lip balms.  They are Holy Grail, can’t live without them status.  Well the Neutrogena Revitalizing Lip Balm feels very similar.  It is so moisturizing and comfortable on the lips.  The color is very sheer, so it is perfect for days when you couldn’t be bothered to do a lip color, but you want something there.  It’s a great product to throw in your purse and go.

That does it for my favorites, now onto this month’s Fails.  Always keep in mind that my reviews are based on my specific experience with these products, and good or bad, you may have different results.  So, just because I give a product a bad review, it doesn’t necessarily mean that it is a bad product.  It just means that it did not work for me.

Eclos Skincare

Eclos Skincare

I tried this 6-Piece Anti-Aging Starter Kit from Eclos Skincare.  Eclos is a branch of Freeman Beauty.  I really love Freeman facial masks, so I decided to try their skincare line the last time I made a purchase from Freeman’s website.  You can also get this set from Ulta.  Eclos touts their Apple Stem Cell Technology as truly amazing stuff that is clinically proven to significantly reduce wrinkles and improve skin texture.  I call shenanigans.  The products were generic at best, and some were truly terrible.  Not only did these products do absolutely nothing for my skin, but the scent was unbearable to me.  These are not large sample sizes, but even so, I couldn’t finish several of them.  Even the clay mask, something that Freeman does very well, was just ho-hum for me.  The primer was so bad that I tossed it after one use.  I like Freeman Beauty a lot, and their masks are wonderful.  I really wanted to like the Eclos skincare line.  Ultimately though, I hated all of it and do not recommend that you try any Eclos products.

That is all for my May Favorites and Fails.  I hope you saw something that you might want to check out for yourself.  If you have used any of these products, I’d love to know what you thought of them in the comments below.  May was a good month for me.  I am finally feeling back to normal.  I have several projects on the horizon, and am nervous but excited.  I am not looking forward to the intense heat of a Southern California summer, but at least I won’t have to endure the humidity like I did in NC.  Are you looking forward to the summer?  Any big plans on the horizon?  Let me know.  🙂

Neutrogena Rapid Clear Acne Defense Face Lotion

BeautyQuickiegreen

Beauty Quickie Series

Today I have a Beauty Quickie review of the Neutrogena Rapid Clear Acne Defense Face Lotion for you.  If you have been a long-time follower of this blog, you know that I completely swore by the Neutrogena Oil-Free Acne Stress Control 3-in-1 Hydrating Acne Treatment until they discontinued it, despite a very vocal public outcry.  I still have not forgiven Neutrogena for taking it away.  The Rapid Clear Acne Defense Face Lotion was suggested by Neutrogena as a replacement, so I decided to give it a try and see for myself.

Neutrogena Rapid Clear Acne Defense Face Lotion

Neutrogena Rapid Clear Acne Defense Face Lotion

In essence, the Rapid Clear Acne Defense Face Lotion is a 2% salicylic acid treatment.  I bought it because I wanted a decent BHA exfoliant.  Here is what Neutrogena has to say about the product: “Rapid Clear Acne Defense Face Lotion contains maximum-strength acne-fighting medicine with botanical extracts to fight existing acne, help prevent future breakouts and leave skin feeling soft. This lightweight, daily lotion fights the multiple symptoms of acne. A powerful formula contains soothing natural botanicals to help prevent irritation, peeling or dryness. Powerful Salicylic Acid fights acne fast, penetrating deep into pores to unblock dirt and oil while sweeping away dead surface cells that can cause future breakouts.”

Neutrogena Rapid Clear Acne Defense Face Lotion

Neutrogena Rapid Clear Acne Defense Face Lotion

The bottom line is that though Rapid Clear Acne Defense Face Lotion is a pretty good salicylic acid treatment, it is nowhere near as good or as hydrating as the Oil-Free Acne Stress Control 3-in-1 Hydrating Acne Treatment.  I found it a bit drying, and I was not able to use it all over my face on a daily basis.  I do think that it makes a pretty good spot treatment for me, though.  I tend to get breakouts on my chin because of hormones, so when that happens, I use Rapid Clear Acne Defense Face Lotion just on my chin area and it works pretty well.  If you have normal or oily skin, I think it would be a great BHA to use on a daily basis, but it is too drying for those with dry skin.  Neutrogena definitely lied about it replacing the Oil-Free Acne Stress Control 3-in-1 Hydrating Acne Treatment, and they were fools to take such a good product away.  But despite my bitterness (and I admit that I am totally bitter) Neutrogena Rapid Clear Acne Defense Face Lotion is a good option if you are looking for that kind of product.

Sleep did not happen last night at all, but to make up for it the internet gave me this:

In other news, I am hoarding the discontinued Neutrogena Oil-Free Acne Stress Control 3-in-1 Hydrating Acne Treatment because it’s the best thing ever and I still can’t find something I like to replace it.  I may or may not have bought myself a whole heaping ton of it off of Amazon.  I am actually considering buying another heaping ton, but my husband has managed to dissuade me at this time.  I think his exact response was “Oh please, god no.”  He obviously doesn’t understand the depth of my need.  Then again, seep deprivation and a credit card probably shouldn’t mix. 😉

June Favorites

I was hoping to get my June favorites post up last week, but I’ve been pretty busy lately.  Hopefully you don’t mind that I’m a little late.  Can you believe that half of the year is almost over?  I feel like every month I say the same thing, but 2013 is advancing at a breakneck speed.  June was a really good month for me.  The Husband™ and I have made several big decisions and positive changes that are now in place and ready to pick up steam over the next few months.  I’m doing better now than I have been in a long while.  But enough yammering.  I was pretty minimal with my makeup throughout June and my favorites reflect that.

JuneFavs2013spray

Sweet on Paris Shimmer Mist

First up is the Sweet on Paris Shimmer Mist from Bath & Body Works.  I picked this up during the recent Semi-Annual Sale and have been really enjoying it.  B&BW says: “Spray on the sparkle with an enticing medley of juicy blackberry, lemon meringue and creamy vanilla, inspired by the sweet temptations of a Parisian patisserie. Our deliciously delicate mist comes in an elegant Eiffel Tower shaped bottle and leaves skin sparkling and fragranced. It’s love at first mist!”  I don’t normally go for such sweet fragrances, but this is just fresh enough to balance out the sugar and avoid ending up cloying.  And I can’t get enough of the subtle gold shimmers this spray provides.  It’s great for summer.

JuneFavs2013blush

Milani Baked Blush in Rose D’Oro

I pulled out my Milani Baked Blush in Rose D’Oro, and have been loving it all month.  Rose D’Oro isn’t new to this blog and has been featured in many Monthly favorites posts before.  It’s a gorgeous pink-toned coral with gold shimmer.  Of all of the beautiful Milani Baked Blushes, this one is my favorite.  It’s pigmented, long-wearing, and so pretty.  If for some reason you haven’t checked them out yet, you really should get a couple of the Milani Baked Blushes for yourself.

JuneFavs2013powder

Revlon Nearly Naked Pressed Powder

I’ve been using the Revlon Nearly Naked Pressed Powder almost exclusively this month.  I really like the finish that it gives and think that it’s one of the best pressed powders in the drugstore at this point.  It has a smooth, oddly creamy consistency that look lovely on the skin.  I never have an issue with it clinging to dry patches, and it looks really natural.  It’s a great choice for powder.

JuneFavs2013Eggshells

Wet N Wild ColorIcon Eyeshadow Trio in Walking on Eggshells

It took a really long time, but I finally got around to buying the Wet N Wild ColorIcon Eyeshadow Trio in Walking on Eggshells.  This is one of the most popular trios, and I have gifted it in the past, but never had it for myself.  I normally like bolder eye looks, but I’ve been going more natural in June and this trio was perfect for a sweet and effortless look.  The shades are beautiful and natural, and an excellent choice if you are in a hurry and need a no-brainer eyeshadow look.  If you are a neutral girl this is a must-have in your collection, especially for how inexpensive it is.

JuneFavs2013wipes

Neutrogena Oil Free Cleansing Wipes in Pink Grapefruit

I’m a big fan of Neutrogena makeup Remover Wipes, so I wanted  to give the Neutrogena Oil Free Cleansing Wipes in Pink Grapefruit a try.  I’ve been using them in the morning to cleanse my face when I wake up and am enjoying them.  The grapefruit scent is very strong, but I find it invigorating and it really wakes me up.  I don’t know if they will become a staple, but I am glad that I tried them out and would certainly purchase them again.

JuneFavs2013swatch

Top: Walking on Eggshells Trio, Bottom: Rose D’Oro

Here are some swatches of the color products that I mentioned.  On the top of my hand is the Walking on Eggshells Trio, L-R: the lid, crease, and browbone shades.  The bottom swatch is the Rose D’Oro blush which is reading a little brighter than it is in real life.  This is a heavy swatch.  On the cheek, the shimmer sheers out and is hardly noticeable.

I hope you enjoyed my June favorites.  Let me know in the comments below what some of your favorites were.  I’m excited that it is July because July is Birthday month for me.  So far it has been a really rainy summer.  We’ve had thunderstorms almost everyday.  Hopefully the weather will clear up now that we are in summer proper.  I have a ton of products to review over this next month, so be sure to sign up to follow BiBB by email so that you don’t miss anything.  Also, next month is my Blogiversary so expect to see a giveaway announcement coming up soon.  🙂

May 2013 Monthly Favorites

It’s the last day of May which means that it’s time for Monthly Favorites!  You may also be wondering about the new background.  I decided to try switching to black instead of white for a while to see what it changes.  I may not stick with the black, but I wanted to try it out.  I take all of my pictures in natural light by a window, so I often have lighting problems to deal with.  I feel like things go really blue, and I’m hoping that it will be minimized without the white background.  We’ll see.  Let me know what you think of the black.  Now, onto my favorites.

Neut3in1

Neutrogena Oil Free Acne Stress Control 3-in-1 Hydrating Acne Treatment

If you read my recent post about the top products from the drugstore here, you know how I feel about my Neutrogena Oil Free Acne Stress Control 3-in-1 Hydrating Acne Treatment.  This product really does well for my skin.  I am so thrilled that it is back on the market.  I hope that Neutrogena never takes it away again because I had a really hard time trying to replace it in my skincare routine.

SmashboxPrimer

Smashbox Photo Finish Primer

I had two samples of Smashbox Photo Finish Primer, and I’ve been really loving it.  I am a big fan of silicone primers, so it is no big shock.  The primer smooths over my skin like velvet, and makes my foundation lay perfectly on top.  I do not think that it is necessary to shell out the money for a higher end primer because there are so many good ones at the drugstore.  But, having sad that, I really have been enjoying the Smashbox Photo Finish Primer all month long.

MayIAR

Maybelline Instant Age Rewind Dark Circle Eraser

I don’t know why I got away from using the Maybelline Instant Age Rewind Dark Circle Eraser, but I sort of “rediscovered” it this month.  I do not have very dark circles under my eyes or heavy bags to deal with, so I don’t need to do a lot with my under eye area.  The light, brightening coverage that this product offers is perfect for me.  I really like Maybelline Instant Age Rewind Dark Circle Eraser, but I wish it didn’t have the sponge applicator.  I know that the ease of the sponge is a selling point for some people, but I hate that I can’t really clean it.  The sponge applicator doesn’t put me off the product, but it is the one thing that I really don’t like about Maybelline Instant Age Rewind Dark Circle Eraser.  Otherwise, it’s great.

UDallnighter

Urban Decay All Nighter Long-Lasting Makeup Setting Spray

Urban Decay had a big sale going on in April and I picked up a few things (just one of the ways I blew my no-buy last month).  I got the full size All Nighter Long-Lasting Makeup Setting Spray for only $14.  As you know if you follow me, I am a little addicted to setting my makeup with powder.  Since I have dry skin, I can sometimes look too made up or the powder looks cakey.  The All Nighter Setting Spray really solves all of those problems.  It makes my makeup look less powdery and more like skin.  It also, of course, keeps my makeup in place and going strong on my longer makeup days.  Especially now that the weather has warmed up, I have really been loving Urban Decay All Nighter Long-Lasting Makeup Setting Spray.

SFtatoo

Maybelline Color Tattoo in Seashore Frosts

I reviewed Maybelline Color Tattoo in Seashore Frosts when I first got it.  I’ve really been liking it.  I’ve been wearing it on the lid with a medium matte brown in the crease.  The brown brings out the gold in the shadow and it really looks good.  I didn’t get any of the other new summer shades because my May no-buy started, but I am so glad that I got Seashore Frosts.

SFtatoo2

Maybelline Color Tattoo in Seashore Frosts

Here is a swatch in the sunlight so you can see the duochrome and shimmer.  It is such a beautiful and unique color.  Check out my review here for more info and more swatches of Seashore Frosts.

EnFuego

NYX Love in Rio palette in En Fuego

Last but not least, I’ve been loving NYX Love in Rio palette in En Fuego.  Of all the Love in Rio palettes, En Fuego really called out to me.  The charcoal grey, plum, and shimmery taupe look so beautiful together.  This trio is nicely pigmented.  They blend really well together, and look so good with my brown eyes.  You may remember that the Love in Florence palettes had mixed reviews, but I really like the two Love in Rio palettes that I bought.

EnFuego2

NYX Love in Rio palette in En Fuego

Here is a swatch of the En Fuego shadows.  Aren’t they so pretty?  If you have green or brown eyes, this combo would look really good on you.  I’m not sure about blue eyes.  Since I don’t have blue eyes, I’m not sure what shades work the best.  But this looks gorgeous on my brown eyes.

That’s it for my favorites, and now for an update on my no-buy.  Unlike my epic fail for April, I was able to stick to my no-buy through May.  Yay!  I did have one fail at the beginning of the month when Cherry Culture had the 40% off NYX sale.  There were a few things that I had not been able to get when Ulta had 40% off NYX, so I wanted to get them while I could.  Other than that, literally within the first few days, I stuck to the no-buy all month long.  I am really glad that it’s over and I can buy makeup now, but I am going to try to keep myself limited.  I will pick something up if it is really interesting, but I am not going to go quite so crazy when it comes to shopping.  I am definitely a girl that goes to retail therapy when I get stressed or upset, and I want to try to break that habit.  This no-buy was a good start.

So, that’s it for today.  I’m glad that it’s the weekend again.  I got so spoiled after a four-day weekend with The Husband for Memorial Day.  I got used to having him around during the day.  I think we are going to try to make it to a movie and maybe see my sister this weekend.  What about you, do you have any weekend plans?  Let me know in the comments below.

Top 10 Drugstore Products that I Can’t Live Without

Drugstore Top 10

I have a ton of makeup.  This is not news.  In this blog, I bring you a lot of great products in my reviews, and I show you what I’m loving in my Monthly Favorites posts.  I try to mix things up so that it stays fun and interesting (How boring would it be if I had the same favorites every month?).  Because of that, it can be tough for you to keep track of what the really great items are with the ever revolving door of products on this blog.  That’s why I want to show you my top ten items for makeup and skincare.  These are items that I use all the time, all year round.  They could be in my favorites every single month.  I will repurchase them all when I run out, and have repurchased some of them many times.  The best part is that these are all drugstore (and Ulta, Target, etc.) products, so they are budget friendly.  These are (in no particular order) my top 10 items that I don’t want to be without.

top10brulee

Wet n Wild ColorIcon Eyeshadow in Brulee

The first item is the Wet n Wild ColorIcon shadow in Brulee.  This may not look like much in the pan, but I use it with almost every eye look that I do.  It is the perfect “magic eraser” shade to flawlessly blend out the edges of any shadow.  It is my go-to brow-bone shade. I use so many shimmer shadows on my lid, it’s nice to finish off with a matte shade.  Also, I don’t love skimmer shades under my brow-bone because that area is a little puffy on me and I don’t want to over-emphasize it.  Brulee is fabulous and goes with everything.  I have backups of this shadow because I do not want to be without it.

top10brush

Sonia Kashuk Medium Fluffy Eyeshadow Brush

Along the same lines, is this Sonia Kashuk Medium Fluffy Eyeshadow Brush.  This is the perfect blending brush.  I finish all of my eye looks with this brush (usually with the Brulee eyeshadow) and it works like a dream.  It is fluffy, but dense, and allows for really good control.  I find Sonia Kashuk at Target.  I bought a back up of this brush because I love it so much.

top10liner

NYX Slide-On Eye Pencils in Brown Perfection and Golden Olive

I’m sure that this is no shock, but my absolute favorite liners are the NYX Slide-On eye pencils.  I like several other brands, but these Slide-On liners are the perfect formula for me.  They don’t smudge, and you don’t have to set them with a powder.  Now that I have used Zero for a few months, I can say that they are dead-on dupes for the Urban Decay 24/7 liners.  I use Brown Perfection and Golden Olive all the time, and they are my favorites.  They are really fantastic.  I hope that NYX keeps making them because I will continue to buy them as long as they are available.

top10wipes

Neutrogena Makeup Remover Wipes

To remove my makeup, I use Neutrogena Makeup Remover Wipes.  I love the ease of makeup wipes, and have tried several brands.  Ponds, LA Fresh, the Target brand… none of them work for me the way the Neutrogena ones do.  I use the wipes to remove my eye makeup, and a lot of other wipes sting my eyes.  Neutrogena wipes don’t sting at all, and they don’t strip my skin.  I always wash my face with cleanser afterwards to really get my face clean.  I vary what cleansers I use, but the Neutrogena wipes are a staple.

top10jergens

Jergens Ultra Healing lotion

Another item that I can not be without and use every day, is Jergens Ultra Healing lotion.  I like to use body butters and scented lotions too, but I change those out all the time.  One thing that never changes that I have been using for years is Jergens.  It may not be the most fun or flashy product, but I will always have Jergens Ultra Healing lotion.

top10remover

e.l.f. Makeup Remover Pen

The e.l.f. Makeup Remover Pen has been a wonderful addition to my collection.  It’s the king of product that makes me wonder how I lived without it.  The remover isn’t too oily or creamy, so it doesn’t smear where I don’t want it, but it removes the problem areas really well.  It has a semi-precise point, so I can even get mascara smudges on the lid without removing the eyeshadow underneath.  For only $3.00, this is such a good product.

top10mauve

Maybelline Color Whisper in Made-it-Mauve

I am completely in love with Maybelline’s Color Whisper in Made-it-Mauve.  It is the perfect color for me.  The Color Whisper formula is comfortable and hydrating on the lips, and Made-it-Mauve is just gorgeous.  I keep coming back to it.  I can wear it all year long, no matter what the season.  I love it, and will definitely repurchase when I run out.

top10olay

Olay Regenerist Regenerating Serum (fragrance-free)

Another staple for me is the Olay Regenerist Regenerating Serum (fragrance-free).  It has been so great for making my dry skin less dry. I use this silicone-based serum to lock in moisture and help heal my skin discoloration.  It has softened my fine lines and helped a lot with redness.  It makes my skin feel velvety soft and healthy.  I’ve been using this Serum for about a year and a half now, and have no plan on stopping.

top10sechevite

Seche Vite top coat

Seche Vite is the only top coat I use.  I’ve tried other ones, but I love how Seche Vite smoothes out wonky texture and can save a bad manicure without having to repaint.  It dries rock hard in a flash.  Seche Vite is a cult favorite for a reason.  It works.  I also use the base coat, but the Seche Vite top coat is my favorite.  The only bad thing about it is that it thickens up before I get all the way through the bottle.  That’s really annoying because I usually like to use every last drop of a product before I toss it.  However, Seche Vite is so good, that I am willing to put up with that.  I have repurchased, and will do so again.

top10neutrogena

Neutrogena Oil-Free Acne Stress Control 3-in-1 Hydrating Acne Treatment

Finally, one product that I really can’t live without is the Neutrogena Oil-Free Acne Stress Control 3-in-1 Hydrating Acne Treatment.  Neutrogena had discontinued this product, but there was a public outcry and they brought it back.  Thank God!  I had used this product for over a year when it was discontinued.  I’ve had to go several months without it, using other products trying to replace it.  I’ve been using Paula’s Choice Beta Hydroxy Acid lotion, but I don’t really like it.  I have the lotion, as opposed to the gel) because it is the formula recommended for dry skin, but it doesn’t blend in very well.  I’ve been breaking out and having more redness over the last few months, and I am sure it is because I’ve been without the Neutrogena Oil-Free Acne Stress Control 3-in-1 Hydrating Acne Treatment.  Right now it is available again on Neutrogena’s website and Walgreens’ website.  I haven’t seen it in stores again yet, but I am sure that it is coming soon. Those with dry skin, don’t be scared off by the name of this product.  The Neutrogena Treatment contains 2% salicylic acid, and is a good BHA exfoliator for all skin types.  It has actually helped a lot with my Rosacea redness.  It definitely has moisturizing ingredients, and those with oily skin may not even need to add a light moisturizer on top of it.  It is such a good product and I don’t want to be without it again.

Those are my Top 10 products from the drugstore for both makeup and skin care.  They all make a difference in my routine, especially the skincare items, and I miss them when I am out.  How about you?  What are your go-to products that you don’t want to be without?  Let me know in the comments below.

Have you seen these yet?

Standard

January is flying by.  I’m really behind on showing you the new products for Spring 2013.  I have a ton of pics to share of some new displays that I spotted last weekend.  I found these at Walgreens, but they should be readily available elsewhere as well.

Maybelline Spring 2013

Maybelline Spring 2013

Sorry for the blurry photo, but I came across this gigantic display from Maybelline with a bunch of new products for Spring.  Part of the display are the Master Duo eye liners as well as the new Metallic collection of Color Tattoos.  I took close ups of some of the other items.

Maybelline Instant Age Rewind Lifter and Perfector

Maybelline Instant Age Rewind Lifter and Perfector

First up, the new Maybelline Instant Age Rewind Lifter Foundation and Perfector Powder.  For the Instant Age Rewind Lifter Foundation, the display reads “The first lifting foundation plus smoothing primer.  Get firmer, lifted skin instantly!”  I’m especially interested in the Maybelline Instant Age Rewind Perfector Powder.  The display reads “Skin perfecting powder plus smoothing primer.  The first dual action anti-aging powder.”  I am very curious as to how that actually works and the consistency of the powder.

Maybelline Eraser dark Spot Concealer

Maybelline Instant Age Rewind Eraser Dark Spot Concealer

Also in the display was the Maybelline Instant Age Rewind Eraser Dark Spot Concealer.  I’m not sure how this differs from the Maybelline Instant Age Rewind Dark Circle Eraser Concealer that came out last year.  At first glance they seem pretty similar.  I love last year’s model, though, so this product might be worth a try.

Maybelline ColorSensational Vivids Collection

Maybelline ColorSensational Vivids Collection

Finally, we have the Maybelline ColorSensational Vivids Collection of lipsticks.  Though not the best picture, I can say that this collection has some pretty unique shades for the drugstore.  All of the shades are bright and vivid, and you should definitely take a gander at the color selection, especially if you are looking for a MAC alternative.

Maybelline ColorSensational Color Whisper Collection

Maybelline ColorSensational Color Whisper Collection

Not part of the gigantic display from above, but also from Maybelline is the ColorSensational Color Whisper Collection of lipsticks.  These are Maybelline’s answer to the Revlon Lip Butters, good coverage with a “whisper-light” feel on the lips.  I love hybrid lip products, so I certainly want to try these out.

Rimmel BB Cream

Rimmel BB Cream 9-in-1 Super Makeup

Rimmel has a new BB Cream out, and despite my loathing of drugstore “BB Creams” I actually want to give this one a try.  Though obviously not a true BB Cream, I have read some great reviews of this Rimmel 9-in-1 Super Makeup and want to give it a chance.

L'Oreal Trendsetter Collection

L’Oreal Trendsetter Collection

I found a somewhat incomplete display of the new L’Oreal Trendsetter nail Collection.  This display offers only the three metallic finish shades: Look At Me, Just Jet Setting, and Don’t Hate Me Cuz.  The display also features the new Nail Lingerie stickers that mimic a gradient manicure.  They look gorgeous in the display photos, but I do not know how the perform in real life.  I wish I had found the entire Trendsetter Collection, because the other spring shades are actually really nice.  I’ll keep looking.

L'Oreal Visible Lift blush

L’Oreal Visible Lift blush

Also from L’Oreal are the new Visible Lift blushes.  These are spongy cream blushes, similar in texture to the Maybelline Bouncy Blushes from last year.  Just like the Bouncy Blushes, these Visible Lift blushes are getting mixed reviews.  I really think that whether you like them or not will be based almost entirely on the shade you buy and your skin tone.  These will look lovely on some people, and not work at all on others.

Neutrogena Crease proof Eyeshadow

Neutrogena Crease proof Eyeshadow

Last up we have the new Neutrogena Crease proof Eyeshadow sticks.  These cream eyeshadow sticks claim to have a built in primer to prevent creasing and fading.  Though there are only four shades in this display, there are six shades in the collection.  Also displayed is the Neutrogena Healthy Lengths Mascara.

Wow, that was a lot of products thrown at you.  It’s that time of year.  I hope that you saw something that interested you.  I am definitely interested in a few of these items.  Let me know if you have tried anything that I’ve shown here and what you though of it.

Quick Ulta Haul

Standard

Ulta haul

Hello everyone.  I haven’t done a haul post in ages, and I know that some of you find hauls interesting, so I thought that I’d do one now.  I had a coupon, so I went to Ulta this past weekend to take advantage of it.  Here is what I got.

Neutrogena Oil-Free Acne Stress Control 3-in-1 Hydrating Acne Treatment:  I use this as a BHA treatment because it contains 2% salicylic acid, and is a good BHA lotion for all skin types.  And because it is way cheaper than the Paula’s Choice version.  It has actually helped a lot with my Rosacea redness and definitely has moisturizing ingredients, leaving a decent level of hydration.  You can read more about it here in my Skincare Routine post from last November.  This is my fourth bottle, I think, and I will definitely repurchase.  I highly recommend it.

Batiste Dry Shampoo in Dark & Deep Brown:  I have really straight, fine hair with no texture or volume in it.  I’ve heard that dry shampoos are great for adding texture, but since they are white, they can leave a gray cast to dark hair.  That’s why I want to try this Batiste version.  One of my favorite Youtube beauty bloggers swears by it.

NYX “Stay Matte not Flat” Powder Foundation: I have heard so many good things about this powder as either a powder foundation or a setting powder.  I have dry skin, but I still use powder every day to set my foundation.  I just can’t force myself out of the habit.  So, I try to use powders that don’t settle into fine lines or leave my skin looking too powdery or dry.  “Stay Matte not Flat” is supposed to look really natural, like you aren’t wearing powder at all.  I will let you know how it goes.

Essence Colour and Go polish in Gorgeous Bling Bling:  I love these Essence Colour and Go polishes.  They all have a fantastic formula that goes on evenly and are really opaque.  Gorgeous Bling Bling is a flaked, rustic burnt brick-orange color.  It is too orange to be called brick red, but too red to properly be called orange, and it’s packed with gold flakes.  It’s actually a very pretty color, and perfect for Fall.  These mini bottles are perfect for me because I can never get through a full sized bottle, and they are only $1.99 each.  Love ’em!

So, that’s my haul.  Did you see anything that you found interesting?  Have you tried any of these products, and if so, what was your experience?  Do you want me to review any of these items here on BiBB?  Let me know in the comments below.

Spotted Out and About

Standard

I haven’t done a “Spotted” post in ages.  I guess I’m going to make up for it today because I have a ton of new displays to show you.  I went to CVS, Walgreens, and Walmart this time.  I have a lot to get through, so I’m just going to launch in.

CVS had a lot to offer in terms of foundation and BB Creams.  I personally am not a fan of American drugstore BB Creams because I think that they are just glorified tinted moisturizers and not true BB Creams.  But, I know that many of you do want to try them out so I snapped a couple pics.

Neutrogena Shine Control Makeup

First, though, a new collection from Neutrogena.  The Neutrogena Shine Control Makeup collection includes primer, foundation, and powder.  According to Neutrogena, “Our revolutionary line combines lightweight, breathable makeup with our exclusive rice protein complex. This amazing makeup continuously absorbs oil throughout the day, minimizes the look of pores and leaves a soft, non-shiny finish — all without over-drying skin.”  I especially love that drugstore brands are now offering those little sample cards so you can try before you buy.  The Revlon Whipped Creme Makeup display had samples and you can see in the upper right hand corner that this Neutrogena display does too.  I hope all drugstore brands follow suit.

L’Oreal Magic Skin Beautifier BB Cream

Next up, L’Oreal Magic Skin Beautifier BB Cream.  “Encapsulated pigments are infused in an ultra-light lotion with antioxidants vitamins C and E. You get four beautifying actions: primes to smooth skin’s texture; perfects to hide imperfections; hydrates for all-day moisture; corrects skin for a healthy-looking, even complexion. L’Oreal Paris Magic Skin Beautifier B.B. Cream instantly transforms to your perfect shade for a flawless bare-skin finish.”  I will be doing a full review of this soon, so keep an eye out.

Maybelline Dream Fresh BB Cream

CVS also had the Maybelline Dream Fresh BB Cream displayed.  Per Maybelline, “The 1-step wonder for a good skin day, everyday.  Packed with 8 great skin benefits for instant skin perfection.  Ideal for Normal Skin.”  The BB Cream comes in five shades and those little bottles in front of the tubes are testers to you can try all the shades for the closest match to your skin.

Maybelline Luminous Lights

Also from Maybelline is the Expertwear Luminous Lights collection.  “Now eyes light up with shimmering luminosity.  Our highest concentration of pearls.  4 luminous shades.”  These shadow quads do certainly look luminescent, though all of them are very light shades.  They seem a little ho-hum to me, but those who like lighter eye looks may really enjoy these.

Sinful Colors Study in Style

At Walgreens I spotted the Sinful Colors Study in Style collection.  Though a gorgeous collection, it’s made up mostly of repromotes, so you may already have many of these shades.  The only entirely new shade is Leapfrog, which is that lovely murky green in the center.  If you missed out on the ever-popular Winterberry, here is you chance to snatch it up.

Wet n Wild Fergie Collection

Next in nails, we have the Wet n Wild Fergie Collection.  This is the first collaboration with WnW’s global ambassador, Fergie, to hit shelves.  There should be more to come in the future, and though I’m not sure if they are exclusive to Walgreens, they will definitely be hitting Walgreens first.  This collection contains 25 shades.

Wet n Wild Fergie Collection

The Wet n Wild Fergie Collection has a bunch of glitter shades, some super bright shades, some dark rocker-type shades, and a couple metallics.  I have heard that there are some dupes to the Wet n Wild Spoiled collection.

New from L’Oreal

Also at Wlagreens was this large display of new L’Oreal products.  On the left is the L’Oreal True match Lumi Foundation.  “True Match™ Lumi Healthy Luminous Makeup combines 3 powerful ingredients that work to improve your complexion the more you wear them.  40% pure water for all-day hydration.  Antioxidants and Vitamins C and E for improved clarity and skin tone.  And Liquid Light Technology for an instant, luminous glow.”   Though they say it is for all skin types, with a “luminous finish” oily skin ladies will want to avoid this foundation for sure.  The center display contains L’Oreal Colour Caresse by Colour Riche lipstick.  These lipsticks are supposed to be the lightweight glossy versions of the original Colour Riche.  They are meant to be moisturizing, sheer, yet pigmented lip colors.  On the right are the newly released shades of the L’Oreal Infallible Eyeshadows.  I really like these shadows and am glad that they keep releasing more colors.

Essie Mirror Metallics

Finally, at Walmart, I spotted the Essie Mirror Metallics collection.  There are five metallic shades in this collection including silver, gold, copper/rose gold, blue and purple.  Metallics are known to be streaky and difficult to apply, but I have seen reviews  saying that these Essie polishes apply better than most metallics.

Those are all of the displays that I spotted this weekend while out and about.  I hope you saw something that interested you.  I did pick up one of the new L’Oreal Infallible shades in Golden Emerald because I am a sucker for green eyeshadow.  I am really interested in the Fergie collection from WnW, but I really need to stop buying nail polish.  What about you, will you be hauling any of these products?  Let me know in the comments below.
