Today I have this Geek Chic Stamping Plate from the Born Pretty Store for review.  I am really liking these long rectangle style stamping plates.  They are such a bargain and hold so many stamps.  There are 14 large size, full nail designs on this plate.  They are all very different from each other and this is a really versatile plate for a wide variety of manicures.  You can go sci-fi futuristic, throw it back to the 80’s, or anything in between.  Let’s take a closer look.

Though Born Pretty advertises this plate as “Geek patterns,” that doesn’t tell the whole story.  You will find gears, circuit boards, and video game controllers in the patterns on this plate, which certainly qualify you for the nerd herd, but that’s not all.  You can create an adorable summer mani with the umbrellas and sunglasses.  Sneakers and pencils are great for the school year.  The planes, cars or directional arrows might be fun on vacation, and the goofy faces are good all year round.  There are a lot of option with this plate, and it’s a good addition to my nail art collection.

I went with bright summer colors and some of the fun summery designs.  I wanted to show off as many stamps as I could, so I chose a different design for each nail.  Some of them are more tricky than others to stamp cleanly.  I had some trouble with the sunglasses design, but overall, it’s a good quality plate. The plate is currently on sale of $2.99.

Today I am reviewing a wonderful stamping plate from the Born Pretty Store, and it is one that you are going to want to check out.  It’s no secret that I love nautical things, and I am so in love with this Sailors & Sea Sailing stamping plate from Born Pretty.  The designs are adorable and they look so sleek.  I have several reviews for products that I have received from the Born Pretty Store, and you can see the other BPS reviews I have done by clicking on the Born Pretty Store link in the “Categories” section on the right hand side of the blog.  But first, let’s look at the stamping plate.

Sailors & Sea Sailing Theme Nail Art Stamp

If you like nautical nails like I do, you definitely need this plate.  The designs are classic and lovely.  The designs pick up really easily.  I also like that you can use the starfish and shell designs to do a beachy theme instead of a nautical theme if you want to shake it up a bit.  The designs are on the larger side, so you may have some trouble if you have very short nails or very small nail beds, but otherwise I have no complaints.  The images stamp cleanly and evenly.  It’s a must-have if you are into this style.

For my nautical nails look, I used e.l.f. Skinny Jeans for my base color.  Let me give e.l.f. a shout out because this polish did not chip for 5 days.  Great job e.l.f.!  I stamped with Sinful Colors Snow Me White.  I am so happy with the way my nails looked this week.  They made me so happy and I got several compliments.  I love the way the mani came out, and I will definitely be using this plate again.

I really have nothing but love for the Sailors & Sea Sailing Theme Nail Art Stamp plate.  It is currently available from Born Pretty for $1.59.  As I’ve mentioned in previous reviews, the Born Pretty Store is located in China, so shipping will take a while.  It is normal for orders to take 2-4 weeks to ship to the US, and in my experience, I have gotten most of my orders within 2-3weeks.  You should definitely plan ahead if you are ordering something time sensitive like holiday items and order them early.  Orders ship within 24 hours.  Check out the BPS website bornprettstore.com, or their facebook page for more details.  For 10% off any regular priced items from the website, use coupon code BBBK31.

Today I am reviewing a large stamping plate from the Born Pretty Store, and if you are an animal lover, it is one that you are going to want to check out.  There are so many cute designs on this plate from bunnies to birds, cats to bats.  This would also be a great holiday plate for Easter or Halloween.  It’s an amazingly versatile plate.  This is the first long rectangle style stamping plate that I’ve ever used, and I think that they are a really good deal with the large number of designs that fit on the plate.  They don’t cost too much more than the regular size, but they hold 2-3 times the number of images.  I have to say that I kind of love this stamping plate.  The designs are adorable and you can get so many looks out of it.

Animal Theme Nail Art Stamp Template

The Animal Theme Nail Art Stamp Template from Born Pretty holds 25 images.  There are seven full nail designs, and the rest are single images.  There is no limit to the variety of manicures that you can get out of this plate.  Since I couldn’t possibly stamp all 25 images on my nails, I stamped them out on some paper so that you can see all of the images on this plate.  There are a couple rather finicky stamps, but most of them stamp easily and cleanly.  The thinly drawn cat with the big eyes and the birds on the swing gave me some difficulties, but you can still work with them.  In general, though, the images are evenly etched and this is a great plate.  Some of my favorite designs are the pandas, seahorses, paws and bones, and of course all of the cats.  Anyone who knows me can tell you that cats will get me every time.  I had to play with the kitty stamps first.  For my cat nails I used Sinful Colors Snow Me White for my base shade, and the Born Pretty Black Stamping Polish to stamp the designs.  I love them.  They are hilarious.

Today I have this 2 piece Crystal Clear Silicone Nail Art Stamper & Scraper set to show you.  The Born Pretty Store has a wide variety of nifty little tools like this one, and I was very happy when they sent it to me.  I like nail stamping, but I definitely have a hard time lining up my stamps where I want them.  They often end up a little off kilter, so a clear stamper really appealed to me.  Before I get into the review, though, I want to remind you that I have several reviews for other products that I have received from the Born Pretty Store, and you can see the other BPS reviews that I have done by clicking on the Born Pretty Store link in the “Categories” section on the right hand side of the blog.  So, let’s talk about this stamper.

Crystal Clear Silicone Nail Art Stamper & Scraper

Crystal Clear Silicone Nail Art Stamper & Scraper

This 2 piece Crystal Clear Silicone Nail Art Stamper & Scraper set is a great find.  I didn’t know they made them, but it makes so much sense for stampers to be transparent.  I don’t know about you, but I have a really hard time trying to place my stamps sometimes.  I haven’t experimented with multi-stamp designs or french manicure stamps for that reason.  With this clear stamper, though, you can see all the way through the barrel right to the stamp.  Placement could not be easier.  I can’t wait to try more complicated styles with this stamper.

Crystal Clear Silicone Nail Art Stamper & Scraper

Crystal Clear Silicone Nail Art Stamper & Scraper

The head on this stamper is very soft and squishy.  Some people prefer a squishy stamper, while others like them to be more firm with very little give.  I actually think that it’s a good idea to have both kinds of stamper because different stamp designs will pick up differently.  Some designs will stamp more effectively and clearly with a firmer stamper head and others pick up better with a softer stamper.  It’s trial and error.  Just be aware that this one is definitely a soft stamper with a ton of give.  The scraper is totally plastic, which is good.  Some scrapers have a metal edge and that just scratches up your stamping plates.  Though to be honest, my favorite scraper is an expired credit card. 😉  All in all, it’s a great set, and you should pick it up.

The Crystal Clear Silicone Nail Art Stamper & Scraper is currently on sale for $2.99.  As I’ve mentioned in previous reviews, the Born Pretty Store is located in China, so shipping will take a while.  It is normal for orders to take 2-4 weeks to ship to the US, and in my experience, I have gotten most of my orders within 2-3weeks.  You should definitely plan ahead if you are ordering something time sensitive (like for a vacation or holiday items) and order them early.  Orders ship within 24 hours.  Check out the BPS website bornprettstore.com, or their facebook page for more details.  For 10% off any regular priced items from the website, use coupon code BBBK31.

Liquid Peel-off Tape from Born Pretty

Liquid Peel-off Tape

I have something really fun to show you today.  This is Liquid Peel-off Tape from the Born Pretty Store.  Those of you who are into nail art may have used a liquid latex or liquid tape type product before, but I haven’t.  I had heard of it and seen some demonstrations, so I was really excited to give it a try.  Before I get into the review, though, I want to remind you that I have several reviews for other products that I have received from the Born Pretty Store, and you can see the other BPS reviews I have done by clicking on the Born Pretty Store link in the “Categories” section on the right hand side of the blog.  So, let’s get into it.

Peel-off Liquid Tape

Peel-off Liquid Tape

For those who haven’t ever seen a product like this before, Liquid Peel-off Tape is something that you apply around your nail to act as a barrier between your skin and the polish.  It dries very quickly, and then can be easily peeled off of your skin.  This is especially useful for stamping large patterns over the nail, or sponge painting your nails.  These techniques can be pretty messy and involve a lot of clean up.  The liquid Tape drastically cuts down on that.  I’ve never used a product like this, but I found Born Pretty’s Liquid Peel-off Tape to be very easy to use.  The real key to using it successfully is to apply a thick coat of Liquid Tape to the skin.  Thicker coats peel of easily and cleanly.  Thinner coats may break when peeling, or turn flaky, so be sure to apply a thick coat.  I recommend using tweezers to peel it off so that you don’t mess up your polish.  To demonstrate, I chose to sponge paint a sheer ombré look using Wet n Wild Megalast polish in I Need a Refresh-Mint and Candy-Licious.

Peel-off Liquid Tape

Peel-off Liquid Tape

As you can see, the sponge painting was a big mess.  When I peeled off the Liquid Tape, however, my thumb was pretty clean.  I still have to go in and tighten up the edges, but clean up is much easier and faster using the Liquid Tape.  I definitely recommend this product.  I usually don’t do a lot of messy manicures, but now that I have the Liquid Tape, I may play around with new techniques.  It is so much easier now with this product in my arsenal.  The Liquid Peel-off Tape is currently on sale for $2.99 at the Born Pretty Store.

Born Pretty calls this one the Cute Windmills Nail Art Stamping Plate.  I used the peacock feather design when I reviewed the gold stamping polish last week, so you can click the link to see that one.  This plate is so varied that I wasn’t sure how to show you all the designs in one look.  Ultimately, I decided to just do each nail with a different design so you could see as many stamps as possible.  I had a little trouble with a couple of the designs, but I used Sinful Colors Black on Black instead of a proper stamping polish.  I am getting toward the end of the bottle and that may be the issue.  I am satisfied with how the designs came out, but a true stamping polish would create much cleaner lines.  I really love the pinwheel and heart designs on this plate.  I was also really impressed with how crisp and clean the tribal strip pattern stamped.  I really like this plate and I am glad to have it in my collection.  I can see myself using it a lot.

Gold Stamping Polish from the Born Pretty Store

I have another Born Pretty review for you today, this time for this lovely gold stamping polish.  I have several reviews for products that I have received from the Born Pretty Store, and you can see the other BPS reviews I have done by clicking on the Born Pretty Store link in the “Categories” section on the right hand side of the blog.  For those of you who are new to nail stamping, a stamping polish has a slightly thicker formula than a regular polish that gives you an opaque stamped image every time.  So many of the reviews raved about how opaque the polishes are, that I had to give them a try.  There are 19 shades in this range of stamping polish.  I chose this gold shade (shade #1) because I find that I tend to stamp with gold a lot, usually with e.l.f. Pot of Gold.  It looked like a great color for me to try.

Gold Stamping Polish from the Born Pretty Store

Gold Stamping Polish from the Born Pretty Store

This photo is straight from the Born Pretty website.  You can see how clearly the gold polish stamps over a white or black base.  The product photos were impressive, so I decided that I would really put the gold polish to the test.  I chose to use Sinful Colors Gorgeous for my base color.  It is a metallic teal shade.  I figured that if a metallic gold polish could stand out against an equally metallic shade than it would be proof that it’s a great stamping polish.  Gorgeous is a very difficult shade to photograph because it reflects light so much, but I hope that you can see how the gold performed.  The lines of this complicated peacock feather stamp are perfectly crisp.  It didn’t skip and it is pretty opaque.  This gold and teal is a tough color combination, but I think the gold really stood up to the test.

I like the gold stamping polish, and am going to get a lot of use out of it.  It performs well, especially over a different base color than I used here.  It is currently on sale for $4.79 at the Born Pretty Store.

Today I have a really beautiful stamping plate from Born Pretty to review.  I received this plate for review from the Born Pretty Store, and you can see the other BPS reviews I have done by clicking on the Born Pretty Store link in the “Categories” section on the right hand side of the blog.  This plate is interesting and versatile with the variety of designs that it contains.  Take a look.

I managed to get most of the designs stamped on my nails so that you could see how they transfer.  I  obviously wouldn’t wear them all like this under normal circumstances.  I think that you could create some fun and funky manicures with these designs.  You could do a Captain America theme with the star designs, or a romantic look with the floral design.  The wave patterns are very modern and sophisticated and I think will look quite posh.  Most of the designs stamped pretty evenly, though I did struggle with the floral design.  I used Sinful Colors Black on Black over Color Club Polish in Put a Pin in It.  I think I may have had better luck with a proper stamping polish and will try that in the future.  Otherwise, I have no complaints.  This is a fun and versatile plate.  The Star, Wave, Flower Pattern stamping plate is currently on sale for $1.94 on the BPS website.

Turtles with BPS Green Stamping Polish

I am so in love with this adorable turtle manicure that I did using Green Stamping Polish from the Born Pretty Store.  It was extremely easy, so any beginner can do something similar with whatever stamp design they might have.  I have several reviews for products that I have received from the Born Pretty Store, and you can see the other BPS reviews I have done by clicking on the Born Pretty Store link in the “Categories” section on the right hand side of the blog.  These turtles are super adorable, but the real star of the show here is this gorgeous duochrome green stamping polish.

Green Stamping Polish from the Born Pretty Store

Green Stamping Polish from the Born Pretty Store

A stamping polish has a slightly thickened formula than a regular polish that results in an opaque stamped image every time.  A regular iridescent green polish would never get the crisp, clean, opaque images that a true stamping polish would give you.  That is what makes this polish so unique.  It is just as gorgeous as a regular duochrome green polish, but has the formula of a true stamping polish for excellent results.  The polish actually has a teal blue base, but it is so packed full of green and gold shimmers that it appears green in the bottle.  The color of the stamp changes depending on what base you have stamped this polish over.  If you start with a white or blue base color, you will see more of the teal come out in the stamp.  Over black though, all you would be able to see is the shimmery green.  I can’t wait to try it out over all sorts of color bases.

For my turtle mani, I used Rimmel 60 Second polish in Let’s Get Nude from the Rita Ora collection.  I used a stamp from the Salon Express Nail Art Stamping Kit (Plate SE21) that I reviewed way back in early 2012.  I don’t know if it is still available, but any turtle design will do.  The polish would also look great with a fish design.  The stamping could not have been easier, and I had all ten nails done in five minutes.  I topped everything with Seche Vite, and I was done.  The green stamping polish worked like a dream, and looks amazing.  I highly recommend it.

Today I have a really beautiful Dancing Peacock themed stamping plate to review.  I received this plate from the Born Pretty Store, and you can see the other BPS reviews I have done by clicking on the Born Pretty Store link in the “Categories” section on the right hand side of the blog.  I love peacocks.  I think that they are beautiful, and the designs on this plate are really lovely.  There are more than just peacock designs, though, making the plate both interesting and versatile.  Take a look.

Peacock Themed Stamping Plate

Peacock Themed Stamping Plate

Isn’t that gorgeous?  In addition to the four peacock images, thre is also an owl, a very cool flame image, a dancer, and a fleur de lis.  Now let’s talk about that gigantic peacock image in the center.  You can use the tail section for an interesting textured image that has nothing to do with peacocks.  The scrolls and tail feathers combine for a damask-like design that can be used in many ways.  For the look I have today, I chose to stamp the large peacock on the left with the long, loopy tail feathers.  I laid down e.l.f. Pot of Gold for my base color, but then chose to add a little something with some transparent teal.  I stamped the center image with Sinful Colors Gorgeous to add some subtle texture.  It’s hard to see it in the photo, but in real life it was a bit more noticeable.  I used Born Pretty’s Black Stamping Polish for the image and stamped it across all four fingers.  Here is the result.

Peacock Themed Stamping

I think that it came out as a fun and unique manicure.  The peacock stamped beautifully, and evenly.  I had no issues with the image skipping or smudging.  The Dancing Peacock plate may look a little intimidating at first, but the images are actually very easy to work with.  I went ahead and stamped most of the remaining images so that you could see how they stamp as well.  The only images that I didn’t get at least part of were the fleur de lis and the funky pop art peacock.  Again, this was Born Pretty’s Black Stamping Polish, this time over Ulta Goddess.

Peacock Themed Stamping Plate

All of the images stamped really well except for that owl.  I had such a hard time getting it to stamp cleanly.  I think the etching might be a little too fine or something, but the owl gave me fits.  It took several tries before I finally gave up and said “good enough”.  Otherwise, the images were clean and crisp.  The plate is evenly etched and of good quality.  I really like the Dancing Peacock plate, and I can see myself getting a lot of use out of it.  The Dancing Peacock Themed Stamping Plate retails for $2.99 on the BPS website.
