Disney Princesses Abound

Disney Princess Water Decals

I am showing my Disney side again with today’s review.  Princesses abound with these Water Decals from the Born Pretty Store.  I have several reviews for products that I have received from the Born Pretty Store, and you can see the other BPS reviews I have done by clicking on the Born Pretty Store link in the “Categories” section on the right hand side of the blog.  To see my other Disney themed manicures and reviews of the Mickey Stamp and  Mickey Glitter, click on the these links.  But today, let’s talk princesses.

Disney Princess Water Decals

Disney Princess Water Decals

This sheet of water decals is just chock full of designs inspired by Ariel, Belle, and Princess Jasmine.  Not only do you have all three princesses named and silhouetted several times over, but there are other object that are associated with them pictured as well.  There are dolphins and aquatic flowers, as well as a bubble border for Ariel.  You have lotus blossoms (I think) and lamps for Jasmine, with a gorgeous blue and purple border decal.  And for Belle there are roses, a rose border, and… well… bells.  There are also heart images and the words “kiss” and “love” that would work for any of the princesses.  Instead of doing a regular mani with just one of them, I decided to show you all three princesses and the variety that this sheet of decals can provide.

Princess Jasmine Water Decals

Princess Jasmine Water Decals

For Princess Jasmine, I chose to use the full color silhouette on one nail, and her name with a genie lamp on the other.  The full size silhouettes are rather long, so they would look best on medium to long nails.  Those with short nails may have a hard time getting them to fit.  Otherwise, the decals applied very easily.  For my base color, I used Ulta Don’t be Shellfish from the LE “Under the Sea” collection.  When I do a full Jasmine mani, I will definitely be using that beautiful blue and purple border decal.  I am just so excited to see these designs, because they are so unique.  You don’t see many Princess Jasmine inspired products, so it’s nice to have them.

Ariel Water Decals

Ariel Water Decals

For Ariel, I had to use a blue base color.  To keep it light, I chose Went N Wild I Need a Refresh-Mint.  For the decals, I opted for the aquatic flower with the word kiss (as in “Kiss the Girl”) on one finger, and Ariel’s signature silhouette on the other.  What I mean by signature silhouette is that, if you look closely, you can see that each princess has a larger silhouette with a distinct border around her.  Belle is pictured in a square frame (window?) with a rose in the corner.  Jasmine is framed in an Arabic style window.  Ariel’s signature silhouette has her surrounded by a circle of bubbles with a wave cresting on the bottom.  I think a Little Mermaid themed mani would be absolutely adorable, and can’t wait to do it for my next trip to Disneyland.  I did have a small issue with the silhouette trying to wrinkle when I was applying, but it was the first one that I did, so I chalk that up to user error.  The other decals applied perfectly.

Belle Water Decals

Finally, I have my Belle themed nail.  For the base color, I applied Rimmel 60 Second nail polish in Let’s Get Nude from the Rita Ora collection.  Since I only had one nail left, I decided to use one of the smaller silhouettes.  All of the smaller sized silhouettes have the same oval with the bow on top.  To complete the look I added two opposite facing roses on the bottom.  I think the nail looks great, and I would absolutely do a full manicure in this color scheme.  It came out really lovely.  The only complaint that I have is that I think Belle got a bit short changed in the design department.  The roses are very nice, but they are certainly in abundance.  I just feel that the creators of this item could have put just a bit more thought into Belle’s designs.  Otherwise, again, the deals applied easily and they will make a great full manicure.

One thing that I should note is that, for the first time, I received a “damaged” product from Born Pretty.  I put that in quoted because “damaged” is a relative term.  The sheet arrived completely folded over itself, so there was a bend mark across the product.  I purposefully chose decals in that bended area to see if they would look damaged on the nail, but they were fine.  The nature of water decals make them hardier than stickers, for example (they are thin plastic I think).  I am not complaining, and everything is fine, but since this is the first time anything like this has happened in the many shipments from Born Pretty, I thought it was worth a mention.

All in all, I am thrilled with my Disney princess water decals.  What Disney fan wouldn’t be?  The sheet is currently on sale for $2.65, which is a great price considering how many designs are on the sheet.  As I’ve mentioned in previous reviews, the Born Pretty Store is located in China, so shipping will take a while.  It is normal for orders to take 2-4 weeks to ship to the US, and in my experience, I have gotten most of my orders within 2-3weeks.  You should definitely plan ahead if you are ordering something time sensitive (like for a vacation or holiday items) and order them early.  Orders ship within 24 hours.  Check out the BPS website bornprettstore.com, or their facebook page for more details.  For 10% off any regular priced items from the website, use coupon code BBBK31.

Disney Inspired Mickey Ear Glitter

Mouse Ear Glitter

I have such a fun product to show you today!  The Born Pretty Store sent me these adorable Disney inspired Mickey Mouse shaped glitters.  If you have been around for a while, you may have noticed that I have become quite the Disney fan, and I am so excited to have these Mickey glitters to play with.  If you missed it, be sure to check out my last Disney themed manicure.  I am not sure how many glitters come in this jar, but let’s just say it is probably a lifetime supply!  So, let’s take a closer look.

For my Disney mani, I alternated between Sinful Colors Black on Black and Wet n Wild Megalast Nail Color in I Red a Good Book as my base colors.  I don’t currently have any nail glue, so I used Seche Vite to adhere the glitter pieces.  It probably would have been easier with nail glue, but at the end of the day, the top coat did work.  I also strongly recommend that you use tweezers to pick up and place the glitters because they can be hard to manage with just your fingers, especially if you are playing beat the clock before your top coat dries.  😉  You don’t need to be good at nail art at all to use this product, so these glitters are great for beginners.  This is one of the easiest ways to turn plain nails into Disney nails.

The mouse ears are cut from mylar sheets.  They are pretty flat, so if your nails are especially curved, you may need to roll them between your fingers to get them to lay flat against the nail.  Or, just accept that the edges may raise slightly off of your nail, which is also a cool look.  However, if you have larger nails, or nails that are already pretty flat, they should be very easy for you to use.  The glitter pieces are a pretty decent size.  They are large enough that I didn’t want to put one on my pinkie nail because I thought it took up the entire nail.  But, I have small nails.  If you have larger hands than I do, they would probably work on all of your nails.  They would also look adorable on a pedicure.  Can’t you imagine walking around in sandals with tiny silver Mickeys on your toes?  Too cute.

I love these Mickey Mouse ear glitter pieces.  They are perfect for a quick and easy Disney themed mani.  They are currently on sale for $3.51 at the Born Pretty Store.

Disney Themed Mani Thanks to the Born Pretty Store

I was contacted by the Born Pretty Store to review some Nail Art products.  I have heard great things about the Born Pretty Store for years, but have never ordered anything myself, so I was happy to give some items a try.  I usually focus more on makeup than nails, so you’ll have to excuse the fact that I’m not quite at the same level as those gorgeous perfect-looking manicures that you see on nail art blogs.  I did my best, and I am really pleased with how things came out.  I was sent the following three items from the Born Pretty Store.

Today I am going to focus on the Disney themed stamping plate.  Technically the name Disney is not used, nor are the names Mickey or Minnie.  The official name of this plate is the Nail Art Stamp Template Cute Mouse Bowknot Dot Design RuiZ03 available here.  But, the reason I chose this cute mouse plate is because it reminds me of a certain pair of Mice we all know and love.  I have been completely obsessed with Disney since my trip to Walt Disney World last fall, so I couldn’t wait to try out this plate.

Disney Themed Stamping Plate

Disney Themed Stamping Plate

The Nail Art Stamp Template Cute Mouse Bowknot Dot Design RuiZ03 came loosely placed  in the packing bubble envelope that held all three items from Born Pretty.  It was not in a bag or box, but it did have the standard blue plastic protective coating that most stamping plates have.  I was worried about possible scratches, but it stamped fine and there were no scratches in the patterns at all.

If you are not familiar with nail stamping, here is a quick rundown of how it works.  Apply polish to the design of your choice.  Use a scraper or old gift card to remove excess polish from the plate.  Press the stamper (not included) onto the selected image to pick up the pattern.  Working quickly, transfer the design onto your fingernail by gently pressing the stamp onto one side of your nail and using a single rolling motion to apply the design.

I thought the stamping plate was very easy to use.  Though I have used nail stamping plates before this, I do not take the time to stamp my nails often, so I am definitely a novice.  That being said, I only had to redo a nail one time, and it was my own fault for taking too long, futzing with placement.  The stamps themselves applied almost perfectly with clear images and no trouble.  The winky face design isn’t perfect, but that is mainly because it is a little too big for my nail and I couldn’t fit the whole design in the space that I had.  Otherwise, the designs look great.  I used Sinful Colors polish for the white and black stamped images.

I can definitely see myself getting some great use out of this plate, especially when we move back to California and are going to Disneyland all the time.  I have no complaints, other than I wish that it had been packaged a little more securely in transit.  I didn’t have any problems, but there is definitely the potential of plates scratching.  The Nail Art Stamp Template Cute Mouse Bowknot Dot Design RuiZ03 is currently on sale for $1.99, regular $2.99 at bornprettystore.com.  You should know that they are located in China, so shipping takes a long while.  Plan on two to three weeks.  On the upside, shipping is free worldwide with no minimum purchase amount, and orders ship within 24 hours.  Check out their website, or facebook page for more details.  So far I am enjoying my items from the Born Pretty Store.  Keep an eye out for future reviews when I feature the water decals and dried flowers that they sent me.  For 10% off any order from the website, use coupon code BBBK31.
